I was so excited with getting my SW60XG card up and running again that I had to try it out.  And I finally got it functioning through Sequencer Plus Gold, in DOS!  Now my music system is complete...er, as complete as it's going to get, anyway.  (I would like a SC-D70, but I can live without one for now.  My 8820, Santa Cruz, and Cool Edit serve the same purpose.)

"THE VILLAGE" from King's Quest 6 is now available on the "Sierra XG" page.

Of course, playback on a Yamaha SW60XG or better is recommeded, but the file will play okay on Yamaha's softsynth.  The softsynth seems to exagerate the reverb, and also makes the tambourine sound too percussive.  The MT-32 and General MIDI versions of this song are very close; they use the same song file in the game, and the MT-32's sitar is nicer than the SC-55's.  But XG's balance was really differnet, especially the flute and sitar tracks.  It surprised me.  I used XG's 'guitar3' patch and felt it sounds better here than the MT-32's or SC-55's.  It fits the time-period better, I think, and makes the atmosphere feel more authentic.  Just my opinion.
