Hi everyone,

Just as I said, I've made some recordings (short musical phrases) using various patches both from the CM-64 and the SC-55ST to try to show the differences in the sound (and, in my opinion, the better quality of the CM-32P/CM-64).

I'm very grateful to Tom for letting me to host the files in the Quest Studios server. The files (in MP3 format) can be organized in two categories: a) CM-32P presets and b) Patches from PCM expansion cards.

a) CM-32P presets:

1- MUTED GUITAR. Program #14 of CM-32P presets (E. Guitar 1).

CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/mutedg_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/mutedg_sc55.mp3

Note: the CM-32P patch is velocity-switched, but strangely enough, the same preset in bank 126 (cm-32p) of the SC-55 is not, so I used the closest patch, velocity-switched, "funk Gt. 2" (program 29, bank 16).

2- SLAP BASS. Program #19 of CM-32P presets (Slap 6).

CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/slap_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/slap_sc55.mp3

3.- BRASS. Program # 62 of CM-32P presets (Brass 4).

CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/brass_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/brass_sc55.mp3

b) Patches from PCM expansion cards

1.- SN-U110-01 (Pipe Organ & Harpsichord)

HARPSICHORD. CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/harpsi_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/harpsi_sc55.mp3

REED ORGAN ("Positive" organ). CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/reedorg_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/reedorg_sc55.mp3

2.- SN-U110-05 (Orchestral Strings)

CELLO. CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/cello_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/cello_sc55.mp3

3.- SN-U110-07 (Electric Guitar)

OVERDRIVE. CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/overdrive_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/overdrive_sc55.mp3

4.- SN-U110-12 (Sax & Trombone)

VARIOUS SAXOS. CM-64 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/sax_cm64.mp3

SC-55 version: http://www.QuestStudios.com/QuestMusic/sax_sc55.mp3

That's all. The list could be longer, but I think that it's enough. Judge by yourselves. All recordings are made using the standard reverb settings of both the CM-64 and the SC-55.

Well, the CM-64 certainly sounds better than the SC-55.
I really need to get me one...
