Question: Does the LAPC-1 (Or I, never sure which) have digital capabilities or is it simply a MIDI module on a card? I'm wondering if one would need, say both a Sound Blaster (or compatible) and a LAPC-1 in the same machine to get MIDI and speech/sound effects in Sierra games.

Regards,

No the LAPC-1 doesn't have digital capabilities. Just Midi. Similar to the CM-32L.
The only computer card from Roland with digital capabilities is the RAP-10.  I has the same Midi device as the SC-7, SCB-7 or SCD-10. (GM 128 sounds, 8 drum sets, Chorus or Reverb).

Actually, there's another card: The SCP-55, which is a SC-55 on PCMCIA card, designed especially for laptops, and has also digital capabilities.
The problem is that it isn't supported anymore, thus, there's no XP driver available.
It also costs a fortune. Never seen it auctioned for less than 200$ or so...

I heard of the SCP-55 sometime, as well.. I'm sure I saw one somewhere. Wish I'd got it now..
