The tune of Greensleeves dates from England around the time of Henry VIII, and some say that it was even written by the king himself. The well-known tune is also used for the Christmas Carol "What Child is This?".  It was, originally, a love song.  I think it's perfect for the King's Quest series.

Quote
Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.

Chorus:
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.

Additional Verses:
2. Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.

3. I have been ready at your hand,
To grant whatever you would crave,
I have both wagered life and land,
Your love and good-will for to have.

4. If you intend thus to disdain,
It does the more enrapture me,
And even so, I still remain
A lover in captivity.

 5. My men were clothed all in green,
And they did ever wait on thee;
All this was gallant to be seen,
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

6. Thou couldst desire no earthly thing,
But still thou hadst it readily.
Thy music still to play and sing;
And yet thou wouldst not love me.

7. Well, I will pray to God on high,
That thou my constancy mayst see,
And that yet once before I die,
Thou wilt vouchsafe to love me.

8. Ah, Greensleeves, now farewell, adieu,
To God I pray to prosper thee,
For I am still thy lover true,
Come once again and love me.

Quote
It's only been an hour
Since he locked her in the tower
The time has come
He must be undone
By the morning

Many times before
The tyrant's opened up the door
Then someone cries
Still we close our eyes
Not again

Meet me when the sun is in the western skies
The fighting must begin before another someone dies
Cross bows in the fire light
Greensleeves waving
Madman raving
Through the shattered night

Flames are getting higher
Make it leap unto the spire
Draw bright down
Cut it to the ground
We shall dance around the fire

No more night
We have seen the light
Let it shine on bright
Hang him higher

Religions sometimes co-opt things to their own benefit.  This includes the placement of Christmas (overlapping pagan holidays that occupied the same time of year) and some very old songs (such as Greensleeves).

The *original* disk-booting KQ1 AGI didn't use Greensleeves; that apparently was introduced in a later version.  We've actually discussed that elsewhere on the message board, only recently...
