CODE-NAME:  ICEMAN

The CODE-NAME:  ICEMAN soundtrack is now available for the Roland MT-32.  As usual, a track sheet is included.  This soundtrack contains a lot of SysEx data, primarily to control reverb for each song.  There's a bit of subtle repetition in this short soundtrack, with differences such as an added percussion track or alternative instrument accompaniment at times. Enjoy!

A Roland GM version is currently in the works as well.

Iceman! Wheeee!

Still haven't played the frickin' game all the way through (I hate Jim Walls 'do this by the book' nonsense). Salute the flag my ass Tongue

Anyways, thanks very much for this, Tom. Better play the game now! Smiley Downloading for the Chi Chi themes for now. Wink
And I do love that Tahiti 'Guitar 1' and Seashore loop..

By the way.. text here says Roland GM coming soon, soundtrack page says GS. Which is it? Smiley

It's GM.  Changed my mind about 15 minutes into the conversion.  Turns out, GM is handling almost everything just fine.  GS doesn't offer the few sounds I would be looking for, anyway...like the 'filters' and 'sonic boom'.  The same comparative sounds can be manipulated under GM.  I'm already half-way through the conversion.  And the "typewriter" was a snap to immitate using hand clap, applause, and rim shot....one of the easier sounds to mimmick.  Even Pearl Harbor was do-able under GM, since Seashore, birds, and horns are available.

I like to use GM whenever possible, since it makes the soundtrack more accessible.  GM is, after all, the most widely used MIDI configuration.  I'll save the XG or ED versions for enhanced renditions.

Sweet. Smiley For some games GS isn't much help.. and there's no animal noises except birds, no door sounds, no guns that 'Gun Shot' can't handle..

Question: What's the music like after you board the Blackhawk? Never heard any of it!

And I eagerly await this GM translation, as well as some ED Iceman MIDI's! I've still got some GS stuff to send in from this game.

The only music heard on the Blackhawk (the only music I found, anyway) is included in the MT-32 version, in the song titled "U.S.S. Blackhawk".  Later, the "Iceman Theme" plays after you sink the Russian submarine....as well as other spots in the game.

I've also decided to create an enhanced digital soundtrack for this game, since it's so short.  The only real enhancement will probably end up being the replacement of the MT-32's keyboard and dirt guitar sounds; the rest isn't really in need of any replacement sounds.  Maybe a few more horns for a couple of the ChiChi Bar themes.  And I can finally take advantage of Danny's FTP server with these digital files.  Besides, it's been a while since I've designed any CD art and I miss it.

I should have the GM version done by tomorrow.  Needless to say, not all of the songs converted well for GM, but I'm satisfied with it given the limitation of sounds available.

By the way, what I meant was "What's the quality of music like in Iceman from the Blackhawk onwards?"

Soundtrack?? Awesome!!
I've recorded the Chi Chi Bar themes digitally, after a LOT of tweaking. First one SC-55 GS, second ED (or MT/SC, hard to decide) third MT/SC-55, fourth (Dancin' really) MT/ED.. Love those pieces so much. Smiley

I so can't wait to check your Iceman works out. Especially art. Easy to miss it, huh Tom? Smiley

Pretty repetitive.  The music style is well suited for the game, but there's just not very much of it.
