As I about to record some music from my most lovingly LucasArts adventures I have just downloaded some recorded mp3 from the following link:

http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/

(I refer to the Day of the Tentacle an Samnmax tracks)
I think the recorded tracks have great instruments but a bad balance. It sounds just loud. Looks like they were recorded with a soundfont or some VST instruments. When I remind myself of the midi tracks and how they sounded on my old SCD-15 and compare it with the recorded tracks they have not much in common.
I think people who have never hear the midis before may think that the files sound as they were intended to.
When I compare e.g. the Tentacle Disco track with my recordings, I prefer my track recorded with the SD90, because it sounds much "warmer".

Why didn't you check out my site on the same domain? I have all 50 tracks from Sam & Max in both MIDI and Ogg Vorbis (recorded from my CM-500). It's under Music and also starts with the letter S. Good luck in finding it Tongue

I already know your site !! It's pretty nice. I really like the Loom domain, where you can download every piece of music. Even the music of the FMTowns version. Great!!! I didn't even know that there are two FMTown versions. But I have to say I don't like the music of the second version.

I also know that I can get the midi and ogg files from your site. And no need to download the ogg files from SamnMax, cause I also have a SC-55 and a CM-500 here at home. I just wanted to know how other members think about the files on the other site. I also ask myself how they were recorded!!!

He said he used some synths (no idea if they're software, hardware or both) when creating his MP3s. You're right that they're a bit out of balance. The FOA music even had some instruments that you didn't hear at all. The MT-32's instruments had some weird volume properties.

The FMTowns music under Loom is from the same version. For some reason the FMTowns version contains two versions of each melody. 1 is played once when you first enter a scene and then 2 is looped afterwards, I think. A stupid way to do it if you ask me...

It seems that you are right with the two versions of every track in LOOM FMTowns. That's what also other people said in another message board.
Thanks so much.
