Yes, I do have Sierra's QFG5 audio CD, which I do plan on uploading this year. I don't know if the song your looking for is included, though. I've never played the game so I'm unfamiliar with the scenes. There's only 18 tracks on the CD, so much of the music is probably missing. (But they sure are good quality audio tracks!)

Could you upload them soon? And if possible record the music from eranas garden in QFG5. Thanks.

I'm afraid it won't be anytime soon; Ari and I are in the rather drawn out process of rearranging all the current digital files on this site so that they point to one server...instead of six. This is going to take a bit of time to complete. And the Hero's Quest and Quest For Glory II soundtracks are que as priorities at the moment. Heart Of China is next.
But as I said, I've never played QFG5 because, I don't have the game. So I can't record any of the music other than what is contained on the soundtrack CD, which was sent to me a while back by Sierra. None of the song titles on the CD mention Erana, but one is called, "The Rite Of Peace"...which may be the song you're looking for.

"The Rite of Peace" is a different theme. I was able to rip the "Erana" theme from QFG5 a long time ago, using GAP. If you're interested, Tom, I could send it to you.

Certainly! I'd appreciate it. Never heard it before. I'll then upload it for all...

I realize that you're not likely to get it up anytime soon (although it shouldn't be a process anymore complicated than EAC -> oggdropXPd -> upload) but I'd like to add my vote of support to putting the QFG5 CD on quest studios.
I'd always really liked the music (since they recorded it with a live orchestra and hired a composer for the task, I would assume it was one of the reasons the project went over-budget) but my attempts at extracting it from the game files (or even figuring out where they are stored) had always ended in failure. I'd love to be able to hear what they sound like on the actual soundtrack CD.

I just went through my CDs, and found that I actually have the QFG5 audio CD. I think it came with the game... I don't know where I would have gotten it otherwise. Unless it came with the Quest for Glory Collection Series, which is the only other possibility. I may never know. :?

Well, my post was true when I posted it. Thanks to TiBorg, I downloaded GAP (which works surprisingly well under WINE, by the way) and discovered just how many files were lurking inside hdn.spk. Other than being overwhelmed by just how many sound files it takes to put together a game, or the tenacity of anyone who goes through it searching for a specific sound file, I realized just how much work Tom must have put into making those soundtrack CD's out of game files. Thanks for all the hard work of making something raw into something that actually sounds like a soundtrack. It's something I hadn't appreciated until I started looking through thousands of sounds to find actual sound tracks.

I'll PM you my real e-mail that I use often) "The Rite of Peace" is a different theme. I was able to rip the "Erana" theme from QFG5 a long time ago, using GAP. "The Rite of Peace" is available on SierraGamers; more precisely, here, if that's what you're looking for...

Below is a Post of mine from almost a year ago (02/08/2004) to the forum... Chance Thomas's wonderful score for QFG5 can be accessed using GAP: extract the music from QFG5, or at least listen to it; I've never tried saving the WAV files to my hard drive -- I usually just listen to the music using GAP and the Game CD while I'm web surfing. I'm currently using GAP v 1.32. Put the QFG5 INSTALL Disc in the drive (Disc #1), and select CANCEL for the install. Start GAP, and select the PLAYLIST button. Select SCANFILES, and browse to the optical drive that contains the QFG Install Disc. Open the directory INSTALL, then the directory DATA and select the HDN.SPK file. That file contains all of the music, plus some sound effects/voice effects. All of those files should load up as "found WAV files" for GAP to play/extract. On the QFG5 GAME Disc (Disc #2), the file CDA.SPK in the DATA directory contains most, if not all, of the voice & speech for the game, for those who are interested. Some of the other game files I enjoy listening to using GAP are: Betrayal In Antara Resource.SFX - Music Resource.AUD - Voice/Sound Effects (for those who are interested) and Rendezvous With Rama Resource.SFX - Music For Return To Krondor, the WAV files are in the AUDIO\MUSIC directory of the Game discs; unfortunately, these are choppy WAV files designed for looping, which can be easily accessed from the Game discs themselves. I highly recommend getting the soundtrack from Chuck Mitchell directly at www.voiceofthearts.com instead, as they are more complete or realized pieces designed for listening. And for us old schoolers, the Betrayal At Krondor CD is a mixed-mode CD (track #1 = data, the rest of that tracks that follow contain CDA music) which can be played from your CD directly. I hope this helps! ----- Gary

If anyone has a GAP format index to the resources on QFG5, now that would be nice. Otherwise, one has to listen to piece after piece before figuring out which piece is the one they want.
In fact, it might be nice to host GAP indexes for Sierra's digital media games on QS's website.

I also have the digital QFG5 soundtrack CD. Bought it on Ebay for a couple of bucks a year ago or so. I'll talk to Tom and see what I can do about ripping and encoding it to OGG..

Unless it came with the Quest for Glory Collection Series, which is the only other possibility. I may never know. :? The QFG Audio CD was included as part of the QFG Collection series, which was released just before QFG 5 in the hopes that it would boost interest in the new game. On the audio CD, you should also find a demo for the QFG 5 game, which allows you to play the scene where you storm the island fortress (very difficult, because they give you a character with low stats in a non-savable game!). I rushed out to buy the QFG Anthology, which must've come out a year or so before the Collection (did the Collection fix any of the bugs that could be found in most of the games on the Anthology?), but I was lucky enough to pick up the QFG 5 Soundtrack at a used CD store. It's also regularly available on eBay for a reasonable bid price.

Hey, thanks flame6! Now I have the answer to where that CD came from. Yes, you are correct, it does have the QFG5 demo. To answer your question about the bugs, they are still there on the Collection Series CD unfortunately. The good thing is, there are fixes for pretty much all the bugs in QFG4, as well as timer fixes for QFG1VGA and QFG3. Not sure if you need them, or if you already have them... but in case you do not have them, you can get them here: http://www.geocities.com/belzorash/I'm sure this URL is in another thread or two, just thought I'd save you searching for it.
