wow im glad i found this site.
im having a few problems with some games.
goblins quest 3
woodruff and the schnibble
kings quest 5 and 6
space quest 4 and 5

i have the space quest and kings quest collections.

kings quest V tells me that my display drivers arent support by the game.
kings quest VI just goes to a black screen for a second then goes back to the desktop.

ive tried the combatibility thing on both of them.

space quest 5 just tells me to put the cd in over and over again.... altho it is in.

goblins quest 3 works ok.
but the sound is pretty messed up.
the sounds are distorted and almost sound like trying to play cd quality music through the pc internal speakers.
tho its coming from my speakers....

woodruff and the schnible i was having problems with it. but were fairly easy to fix.
it just needed some dll files.
i downloaded em and worked... till it had all the dll's.
the it started saying
"divide by zero or overflow error"
i have absolutly no idea what that means.

ive tried using dosbox... but having trouble figuring it out.

any help would be appreciated.
my specs are
P4 2.4ghz
128mb nvidia GForce FX 5600 ultra
windows XP SP1

Many of these games just don't work to well under XP anymore. I would recommend you take a look at DOSbox

http://dosbox.sf.net

Its a MS-DOS emulator that you can setup a DOS environment in WindowsXP and install the games into that. The have pretty good docs on their Wiki. Check it out.

Thats odd.

For me I just pop in the SIERRA game CD of my choice, run INSTALL.EXE and voila. I don't need to choose which game. Odd, you must have the King's Quest collection with all the KQ games on it. I would run each game installer seperately or copy the games from the CD to your hard drive. I think the main installer on the collection CD has some funky batch tricks that aren't supported in DOSbox yet.

Thats what I did, copy the games from the cd to your SIERRA dir on your hard drive. The from dosbox, run the install.exe in the game dir to configure your sound etc.

Jakkaru,

Not sure if you've had a look through some of the past threads, but you might find some other things to try in these two:
