After a quite long period, I finally have been able to upload some tunes composed for my Fantom XR module. Here's the link: http://www.hispasonic.com/user.php?op=userinfo&uname=ShadowfaxThe page is in Spanish but I think it's easy to navigate. It's a web for (more or less) amateur musicians where registered users can upload their compositions. The problem is that due a server change, the application for uploading music has been down for three months. During this period I've written some music for my Fantom (mostly new versions of old tunes I had written before), and finally I've been able to upload them. I'm currently working on my free times on two more compositions which I'll upload in the future. I think that some people could be interested in music especially written for the Fantom (not GM/GM2, GS or XG). I've only used the module during less than 3 months so I still cannot show all its capabilities, but I think anyone can get an idea of its sound quality.

I'm giving your XR site a listen now Shadowfax, and I am impressed with your compositions as well as the XR's native sound. The module is pretty good, definitely it sounds better than an SC-55. I love its sounds! And to think that the XR is not even playing up to its limits yet. Pretty impressive in my opinion.
EDIT: The CM-32P version of Valle is definitely superior to that of the XR's rendition. Probably because of the add-on cards of the CM.

Interesting sound...kinda like a cross between FM and PCM or something; can't quite put my finger on it. The songs are very well done!! I particularly like "Maria" -- I feel some emotion there that I won't go into. (Don't want to pry.) Nice job!

I'm very glad you like my songs! I'll keep on making more as long as I have some spare time... not as much as I'd like, though I'm currently working on a jazzy composition and on a 'guitar-oriented' ballad (kind of). EDIT: The CM-32P version of Valle is definitely superior to that of the XR's rendition. Probably because of the add-on cards of the CM. That's a surprising opinion for me! I though just the opposite, since I judge each instument used in the song a world apart from the CM-32P, from the 4-way slap bass, or the chorused FM-like electric piano, or the analog-modelled mono synth lead, to the brass section at the end, but anyway, at the end of the day it's (luckily) a matter of personal taste Tom: thanks for your positive opinions (I appreciate opinions from musicians a lot). Regarding the kind of synthesis of the Fantom XR, it's 100% PCM, although very sophisticated (up to 4 stereo operators, analog emulation, 7 effect units, etc.).

Keep on composing man, I've yet to hear a musical piece from your page that I didn't like! And please make full use of the Fantom. I understand that the current musical selections are just conversions from other formats. I'd really like to hear a piece that was written specifically for the XR. Push it to the max Shadowfax.

I've just finished and uploaded another tune! It's called "Jazzy Birds", because it's a quite jazzy and free version of a popular song of Catalonia (this is a north-eastern region of Spain, where I'm from). This song became quite popular after the composer and violoncellist Pau Casals made his version of it. In fact, my song begins more or less as Casals' version (cello). I've tried to take as most as I could from my Fantom, and I've even tried to get the same kind of reverb you can find in a real jazz hall. Opinions are welcome! PS: You can hear the song clicking on the same link you can find in my first message.

It seems that today I'm quite inspired, since I've had enough time to finish another tune! It's called "guitar business" and it's a sort of ballad. I use some different guitar patches from my Fantom (nylon, electric, acoustic, distorted).

Again, nice job on the new installments, Shadowfax! Jazzy Birds kind of reminds me of the Roaring 20's time era of Laura Bow in Dagger of Amon Ra. It would have blended easily as one of the songs in the speakeasy.
Guitar Business is also a great piece, pretty moody to me. It makes me want to go to a bar and drink to my heart's content whenever I'm heartbroken (which doesn't happen....often...but hearing this piece makes me want to be in a drinking mood anyway...and I don't even drink!).
Very nice sounds from the Fantom I must admit. Very natural sounding. I'm betting that only a live orchestra can beat it. Not that the upper Edirol modules don't have anything to say, but there's something about the Fantom's sound that's so...different.

Thanks a lot for your good comments. I've been re-configuring my computer setup and I haven't been able to visit the forum. I'll try to write some more tunes, although at the moment I'm quite run out of musical ideas...

Now there are two more original compositions I've made with the Fantom XR. You can access there: http://www.hispasonic.com/usuario-Shadowfax.htmlOne is a piano solo theme, in a quite Michael Nyman's fashion, and the other is my first attempt in latin music.

I've just uploaded another new tune made with the Fantom XR. This one is funky style. It can be found on the same link as the last message. Hope you like it.

There's just another original tume I've made for the Fantom XR. It's called 'Hero' and it's a rock tune with some "oriental" flavour, in the sense that it's been thought to be in the soundtrack of a japanese-style videogame, and the music of mangas and japanese videogames has that special and unique style. Here's the link: http://www.hispasonic.com/usuario-Shadowfax.html
