Recently I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 98SE, I reinstalled my SBPCI128 drivers. Now everything works in windows, but whenever I go into MS-DOS mode to load the drivers, they load but I get no sound. I checked my autoexec.bat file and it seems okay but I just don't understand. Any ideas?

Do you use pure MS-DOS? or Win98's DOS?

Could there be a conflict with the IRQ or perhaps the driver you're using is a wdm driver that doesn't support DOS programs?

No conflict, I don't think its the driver thats wrong, because it was the same that was installed when it came with my computer.

Hope you can differentiate between VXD and WDM drives which both should work with Win98 SE. WDM drivers are the newer type but they never include any DOS support regardless of sound card. VXD drivers should have the support but you still might have some problems setting it up depending on your system configuration (chipset).

The drivers load up fine in msdos mode, its just that I'm not getting any sound output for some reason. I mean prior to when I formatted my hard drive, it worked fine. I just don't seem to understand what is wrong.

EDIT: Wait, Ari I meant when you boot up Windows 98, I used a bootdisk or CTRL +ALT to boot into MSDOS mode. Not from a dos box.

Windows98 dos

I know this is an old topic, but you must go into Pure Dos mode.  I remember having to do this with my ESS Audiodrive (Sound Blaster Compatible).  For some odd reason, Windows 98 DOS doesn't load the OPL drivers and plays silently.  Just restart your computer in MS-DOS mode, and let the fun begin.   It will work, if not type "Set Blaster= a220 i5 d1"  That should get it rolling.

No, that wasn't the problem. The problem was on my soundcard properties, I had the output settings to analog, while it should have been on digital. Well thanks anyhow for the help.
