I know that the complete soundtrack is in MT and I also know that someone can convert the MT one to GM/GS. I would like to hear the complete KQ5 soundtrack in GM/GS.

Here you go...

http://queststudios.com/quest/kq5cd/kq5cd.html

Most of these songs rely pretty heavy on GS, and those that don't are arranged better than if by using strictly Roland GS.  Smiley

The MIDI files I used to create the KQ5 digital soundtrack aren't true GS, so they wouldn't help, either.  I don't have any current plans to do a straight KQ5 Roland GS conversion, but maybe someone else will....

Ah, it's a pretty defunct idea, isn't it? Smiley

I started converting it (Tom's soundtrack) to GM a long while back. Might revisit it someday (did up to the Town), but it's long Smiley

What IS interesting is that some songs are absent. I wonder if TOm wants me to send them in? Smiley (Recorded them last week.)

Sure, why not.  But I'll have to put them in que behind Camelot...and Longbow...and rebuilding my garage...and cleaning the basement...and finishing Al Emmo.  I've heard there's a push on to re-invent the 24-hour day; somehow making it actually last 29 hours.  I'm for that!!  (I think it's already possible using some types of drugs.)

<laughes> I only ask because I'm throughly enjoying your KQ5CD and it's a shame some pieces are absent. It'd be nice to have it completed soon Smiley

Yes, I know what you mean about hours in a day, though not the same way as you. Poor fellow! Hope you're getting sleep in that 29 hours ;P

Alistair, would it be possible for you to say specifically which pieces are missing from the QS CD? I haven't played the game in a long time and I was just wondering what extra themes were present...

Uh, for KQ5, there's quite a few. I'd rather not make a list if you don't mind Smiley (But, I wil if you don't mind it not urgently). Besides, a couple from my list I subsequently deleted since I found Tom was clever and merged tracks anyway.

Re KQ5: (roughly in game order)

- March Of The Ants (obviously not all missing, but some themes are- there's 4 themes associated with the ants all up)
- Bandit Tent
- Genie And The Witch (would come in after the 'Outside the Witch's House' theme, which incidentally is wrongly titled 'The Witch' and out of order with the Dark Forest anyway, should be after that, i.e. Dark Forest, Genie/Witch, Outside Witch's House etc.)
- Outside the Yeti Cave (Tom complained about the Yeti being short- well, he only included the 2nd half of the piece. Yeti! flows on from Outside the Cave. Though to be fair to Tom, it's just a slowed version of the Yeti piece. Would work better with both though.)
- The Harpies' Theme (As well as the Island theme, and then the Harpie Attack theme, there's a third theme that plays when they chat nastily, before they kill you/Graham plays the harp and they fight each other)
- Arrival At Mordack's Island (After the Mermaid, but before Mordack's Island, there's this nice little interlude, which is NICE Smiley )
- The Grotesque Pipe Organ- Graham Dies (Who was it on the SMC boards who first said about this tune? Smiley )
- The Blue Creature Defeated, and Manannan (2 short themes lumped together, which aren't essential, bu very fun and satisfying to hear if you've played KQ5)
- Mordack's Machine (just the SFX as you do the machine, but these SFX are NICE. Represents the MT-32 very nicely!)
- Closing Sequence (the long sequence is absent in both the MIDI score and the CD. Though to be fair, I don't know how to record it from KQ5 either, since the CD version uses digital MT-32 music, and the disk version has a bug..)

Again, this isn't supplied as criticisms of Tom's KQ5 work in any way, I loved his CD to bits (my god, some tracks such as 'Snatched and Rescued' and 'Mordack's Island/Pantry' are good!), I just want every track done Smiley

They're not as good as Tom's recordings, since I didn't use the kind of mixing arrangements he used. But they go well enough.

Do you have Nero 6? WOuld make life easy for me.

ZIP file can be found at:
http://smc.sq7.org/assorted/KQ5CD.zip

170 MB, but worth it. Smiley Use the Nero tracklists for proper order- open them with Notepad and arrange that way.

There's duplicate tracks, but I thought this would be easier. Renamed a lot of Tom's pieces as well, so don't delete anything called 'KQ5Track.ogg'.
