If you wish to send midi commands to an LAPC-I cards externally, are you out of luck without the MCB-1 expansion box?  I notice that the LAPC-I uses a DB-15 connector to connect to the MCB-1.  If this connector uses the same basic signals as the normal gameport/midi connectors use, then it can be used with a gameport-to-midi adapter.  Does it?

I think we can conclude it that it is useless, if not dangerous to try using a gameport-to-midi adapter on an LAPC-I.  Therefore you must have an MCB-1 if you wish to use an external synthesizer with the card or program the card remotely.
