Well, it's been a long time sins I've played Sins of the Fathers, but can you tell me what you already did in Day 2? I think I had a problem with that one too, but I might be able to help you out...

Well i read the newspaper,
then went to visit mosley, and got his badge (doing the temperature thing and such)
Then i went to jacksonville square and got the hotdog, and then the painters picture, and he put the first few paterns together for me
then i went to malia geddes house and got kicked out
Next i talked to Dr. John
then i went to the cemetary and talked to the guy there, and while there i copied down the stuff on the tomb and picked up the brick
I went to Magenta's house after that and talked to her, and got the snake skin and compared it to the scale i found earlier
then i went to the drugstore and saw Mme. Cavinaux, and talked to the guy about animal masks and the one he wont sell for less than 100 dollars
then i went back to the store and asked grace to do research on Mme. Cavinaux.

That's when the day SHOULD end, but doesn't...it's very frusterating.

Incase you were wondering EXACTLY what i did i have been using this walkthrough:http://http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/gabriel_knight_b.txt
to guide me through the day (everything it told me to do i did...and still no luck.)

Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Hint: Try another walkthrough. Most Sierra walkthroughs miss something, if you have two, or three, obviously you have more chance of locating what you haven't done. A lot assume you would have done something.

Try to talk to Grace and your grandmother once again. Make sure every topic has been discussed even if its very obscure (visit the attic too, make sure you check out everything in that room). Most days end with a conversation with Grace.

i've tried multiple walkthroughs (each one on GameFaqs.com), talked to granny knight and grace about everything in the tree, and asked for research. after i ask for research and exit the dialogue tree (which should end the day according to every walkthrough) i just am left in the bookshop and grace goes back to her work. at this point i have 97 points...what the heck am i missing??

perhaps someone has a saved game i can use...i'm playing the windows version using the patch from gabrielknight2k.tk.

this is becoming ever so frusterating. lol

I would suggest beginning the game from the start. It's only day 2 anyway so you won't have to backtrack too far. There's a glitch somewhere and hopefully when you replay it, it will be gone.

Windows versions are known to be highly buggy. Why not play the DOS version?

Did you ask the man in the curio shop about the crocodile head? Did you give ALL your sketches to the painter (you have to give him both the single sketch and the other ones)? Did you ask Dr. John about EVERYTHING? Did you ask the caretaker about everything? And finally, did you show the sketches to Magentia?

Good luck. If you did all these things, the above posts are probably correct.

well i'll have to go back and check about the sketches...

as for playing the dos version, it won't run (dosbox doesn't like my computer) so the windows version is the only option...besides, im using the patched version which is supposed to make the windows version more usable. lol

oh my goodness i figured it out. i went back to the artist and clicked the partial paterns on him again...and it worked. i don't really get why either...but it worked. Clearly i didn't give him everything.

either way im on to day three. thanks for your help guys!!

No problem, you might have forgotten to give the artist the two different sketches in your inventory and only gave him one. Good luck with the rest of the game, it's worth the trouble! Wink
