The PC-98 equivalents are the GPPC-N and GPPC-NA. AFAIK, a SC-55mkII-compatible GPPC card was never released.

Also, the GPPC daughtercards are the exact same boards as found in the CM-300 and CM-500.

Well.. I don't suppose if anyone knows whether a SC-88's SC-55 map would sound like the original SC-55?
Given that it has different DAC's..

The DACs will not cause a significant difference in sound. The PCM samples are probably going to be the most important factor here. One might ask if the SC-88 contains the entire SC-55 sample-set.
