It's a RAP-10. It's useless except as being handy to use as ports.
Remember, Tom like the rest of us can't afford to get nice stuff, so blowing this kind of money on a RAP-10 seems strange, when he could use better XG synths, for example. Smiley
Believe me, I wish Tom had a MU-128 and Fantom XR..

You know, you can always donate your own MU-100 if you think Tom should have one of those superior synths.

Yeah, his two sound canvas units are very nice anyways.  Alistair, how do you know that Tom cannot afford a new synth, do you have his bank account?  I don't know, but making a statement about another man's financial situation is wrong.  Whether or not he can afford one, that's Tom's business, not yours.

I never said 'he can't afford it', or 'he's in a bad financial situation'. I'm just thinking what I would do. Spending money on synth modules or sound cards (above 50 dollars, anyway) is a hard decision and when Tom could get some really good stuff with that money I do find it a funny decision (it would be awesome if Tom had a MU-80 or better). But you're entirely happy with your equipment, apparently (though, wouldn't you love a SW1000XG?). I'm not with mine, and will always try and upgrade where I can.

I didn't mean to cause offence (and indeed apologise if any was caused); I just want the best for QuestStudios and ergo the community. You can always get better MT-32 conversions and recordings with more patches (up until a point). I certainly don't wish to pry into your financial affairs, Tom.

And Ari- Too late, I promised my Mu-100R to Cloudschatze. Wink

Then, no offense taken.

I'm curious to check out the digital capabilities of the Rap-10, too.   I'm sure it's not as good as the Santa Cruz, but probably as good as the Audigy.  My SB AWE32 quit recording its LINE IN input, for some reason.  It receives the signal and plays what's ever connected to LINE IN, but when you try and record it, zippo.

Is the recording mixer set to record line in? It's not set on another input like "mic" or something, is it?

Yeah, try to look at what its recording input settings are.  Chances are that it's either set to mic, or even muted.  For some reason, my Sound Blaster likes to automatically choose my settings when I plug in a new device.  When I first plugged my MT-32 into the line in, it sounded horrible and distorted, with only monaural sound.  Then I found out that my Sound Blaster was trying to "auto-detect" the input settings and it selected it as mic.  Worst part about this story:  there is no way to turn off the auto-detect.  Good part about the story: I can override the sound card settings.
