I recently just purchased a Powerbook and was hoping that perhaps I could play my favourite old Sierra (and Lucastarts) games on it, but the problem is that they're all PC versions. Does anyone know of a way to emulate them to play on it?

thanks!

You could try Virtual PC, and then use DosBox if necessary.

ScummVM should play your Lucasarts games fine. For Sierra AGI games, you can use Sarien; there's also FreeSCI for some SCI0 games. For SCI1 games, you'll need to use Virtual PC, DOSBox or QEMU - DOSBox probably makes the most sense unless you already own Virtual PC.

Yes, Virtual PC is quite expensive software. DOSBox probably does what you need. No, I don't think there's much you'll need to chance in its settingis!

Sorry to be such a pain...but...

do i have to copy files to my HD or something, or will the CD be detected as the D:\ drive or what?

I've used dos box in windows before (not well mind you) and then realized that Macs dont use C:\ and such so I'm not sure how to run it...

if anyone had a tutorial that'd be great!

P.S. ScumVM is working perfectly! Someone needs to make something like this for Sierra games. A nice, simple, way to run them.

You can copy the files to your hard drive, or use the CD; but either way, you'll need to mount it in DOSBox's commandline.

If you've copied it to your hard drive, use the command "mount d /path/to/your/directory" (without quotes).

If you're using the CD, use the command "mount d /Volumes/CDNAME" (without quotes).

well i did some digging and found 2 appz that can be used to play old AGI games and old SCI games

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13250 Sarian will play AGI games

http://macfreesci.sourceforge.net/ MacFreeSCI will play 16 colour SCI games

Have yet to find something to play the newer VGA point and click games...perhaps someone can help me out.

Also, have yet to test both of these programs however judging from what i've read they seem to work!

DosBox seems to be running them well.
