I saw the keyboard but never followed up on it.  The SC-D70 (SC-8820) is currently going for about $400 with still lots of time left.  Sometimes, the sellers aren't very good with keywords, either.  The last SC-8850 I watched sell didn't show up on a "Sound Canvas" or a "Roland" seach; only as "SC-8850", specifically.

"Rolans SC 880"? Is that like Rolux or Parda?

I saw a SC-50 on eBay today, and the description stated "GM and GS".  Isn't that GM only?

It lacks the MT-32 set, but is still GS-compatible.

Neither did I.. Sad

There's another SCD70 going for 100 Euros currently, too.
Wouldn't bit on the US one in a fit.

Yes, I've noticed the keywords thing. My usual search for Yamaha gear is "yamaha mu" (with and without quotes). For some reason one seller's "Yamaha MU128" didn't show up. Going cheap too..

In that case, you might want to try the keywords "Yamaha mu*" (with or without the "").

Also, it's wise to check the "worldwide" box on the left, when you do a search.

Here comes another sad ebay-story:

I sighted a CM32L on ebay-germany for about 10 days ago.

Unfortunately I let it go because I wasnīt shure, if I will ever make it work in connection to my MAC.

It ended with 37 (!!!) Euro I think.

itīs so sad and so bad. :?

Errrmm... it was me (I won the auction)

I got it because the CM-32L has a better output than the MT-32 (less hiss and noise) and it has some special effects which the original MT-32 lacks, and because a friend of mine was interested in a MT-32 and I'll give him mine when the CM-32L arrives. I don't mind loosing the LCD screen, anyway.

And yes, a CM-32L for euro 35 is a very good deal! Smiley

Seriously, I hope you'll have more luck next time.

Hi shad0wfax,

I also have a friend who would like to have MY MT32 if I will ever get a CM32L.

Years ago I owned a LAPC-I when I was a PC user. Today on my MAC the card would be completely useless. But an external CM32L connected via USB-Midi-Adapter... Perhaps. I assume that you are a PC user? Enjoy that device. Maybe some day we will find each other again, struggling for a SC55 or so.

Do you or does anybody else know if the footsteps-sound heard in Ultima Underworld while walking through the dungeons, is created by one of those 33 additional soundeffects that CM32L/ LAPC-I has?

Err... I think you may have missed the joke. Wink

Regarding the prices -
I'd been watching the SC-880 market on and off last year, but stopped last month, otherwise I might have won that one. Beginning about four months ago, winning auctions were ending at $300+, up from an average of ~$150-$200. Despite being one of the best SC units available (on paper at least - I don't own one), the 880 is probably the least familiar to many.

Someone must have let the cat out of the bag though, because the recent rash of inflated prices is directly related to overseas buyers snatching them up (usually for less-than-half of what they sell for in their respective countries). You'll notice that the $50 sale went to a German buyer.

Still, another SC-880 (minus the volume knob) sold for ~$72 not too long ago. As you suggest, better watch it all like a hawk!

I've been watching just the Roland SC market generally speaking for year(s) now, and it's pretty constant. Europe/Australia charges ridiculously high prices, and the USA charges ridiculously low.

I sold my import/export SC-55 for $175 today Cheesy
