Heads up guys...here's another LAPC-I in ebay. PayPal required and US seller ships overseas. Opening bid is just $9.50 with 5 days to go and still no takers. Click here to see the auction. Good luck!!

That card doesn't look like its working.  Look at the surface mounted chips, one of them looks the solder melted on it or a component blew.  I wouldn't take a chance on it, especially as Roland is no longer able to repair them (if it ever could repair that kind of damage.)

Well the auction has ended and the card went for $153.50. Not bad...its just the card and nothing else. And its not even as rare as a CM-500. Now I'm starting to wonder just how much the module will go for in worldwide ebay.

$153? I haven't been following the price of these things, but isn't this rather a lot? And Hierophant is right, it looks like corrosion or some other form of damage near one of the surface mount chips.

If I were truly desperate for one, I would have at least have asked the seller what the problem was and whether it was working.  If that chip (the LA32) is damaged, then the LA synthesis portion of the card will not work properly, if at all.  In that case the card is, at best, only useful for the 100% compatible MPU-401 interface, and there are usually much cheaper options around.

The seller did say that the card was in good condition. I would assume it would also be working. Five people bid on it, it would be safe to say that any one of them would have asked if the card works 100% before shelling out that kind of money.
