I'm glad you like it. I haven't been able to hear much difference between the PAS and the regular Soundblaster though, but I'm not an experienced listener.
Quite peculiar that the PAS intercepts those signals, haven't noticed it while testing the card here before I sent it off to you. Maybe the answer can be found within the SDK, I managed to download it somewhere, but unfortunately can't remember where.   If you want, I could send it to you. It does have some references to the "system speaker".

SYSSPKRREG   EQU   00061h      ;; System Speaker Register
[...]
bSC1stspea   equ   00010000b   ;; stereoize pc speaker

I wouldn't know if this means anything, but it definitely seems interesting to me.

Hi Lennart,

I might already have the SDK somewhere, but do please e-mail me the one you have. Thanks!

Looking into the speaker-beep redirection, I found this:

Quote
PAS16 supports PC speaker by looking for writes to the timer I/O ports. This
works with 386 class machines. Most (all) 486 and Pentium chipsets handle the
timer internally and writes to these I/O ports are not visible on the bus.

Since my PAS16s are in 486+ PCs, it's never worked, whereas, because I tested the PAS in a 386, it did. Go figure.

The PC speaker thing worked in my HP Vectra 486 with a PAS-16.
