I downloaded the entire soundtrack.  Hopefully I wasn't hogging the bandwidth while doing so.  If anyone noticed a slow-down around 9:45PM(ET) on Wednesday night... that was me.

I like it.  It has a different feel to it than the QuestStudios QFG4 soundtrack or the SMC QFG4 soundtrack.  As with most soundtracks, there are some tracks that I REALLY liked, some that I like, and some that I didn't really like all that much.  But that's just my personal taste in music.   Smiley

Thanks a lot to everyone for your comments and support. I'd like to clearly state that I accept and appreciate both positive and negative comments, and I already know that not everyone would like the conversions. Perhaps my last post was a bit too hard because I was quite shocked by radical adjectives such as "unlistenable". But I'm sure this has to do with Alistair's own style, and he really doesn't want to be harsh.

To try to answer jbltecnicspro's comments, I'd say that it depends on the track, on the music's mood and on my own tastes. Sometimes I feel that the track would sound better with the most realistic sounds, whereas sometimes I feel a more "synthy" sound fits better. I don't take the comment "the Fantom seems to be an updated sound canvas" as a criticism at all, because I honestly think that the SC-8850 is a hell of a good synth, although I also think that Fantom surpasses it in many departments. But it's something like saying "your Porsche is not as fast as my Ferrari".

You play classical music in a real orchestra, so you know better than most of us how rich, subtle and expressive are string instruments. They are very hard to emulate well, and a synth is after all mainly a sample player. I feel that Fantom's strings are good, but for sure it cannot be almost perfect in any sound department.

Thanks a lot.

Did you arrange the MIDI files for Fantom XR playback, or are you just playing back the default GM files?

The digital tracks of the Fantom XR version are not recorded straight from the GM midi files, but peviously I had to re-arrange them to take advantage of the Fantom's capabilities (a hard and long work Sad )

Probably what you hear is simply the Fantom's GM performace (not particularly good, though).
