Jessie Bains, eh?  Hey, I like that ---  The Death Angel!  (Jessie is probably an Angels fan, though.)  Smiley

Seriously. Actually, the first thing that sprung to mind was Codename:Iceman, but then I realised you did resemble Bains a lot. Or am I thinking of his brother in PQ3? Only played it once, a long time ago.

Well, I suppose there is some resemblance there...

On second thought, maybe not that much.

Heh! Actually, I think so.

But I was referring to the in-game Jessie (which obviously looks way different), especially around the sewers.

I've not updated this in some time...

I continued the chiropractic therapy for three months. Sadly, it seems to have not been the answer after all, though the chiropractor made out quite well, having bilked the insurance company out of ~$1000 per week.

I am beginning to think that it may be a sinus issue, and am trying a few techniques here and there (Look up Jala Neti). My wife and I also joined a gym recently, and I am hoping that the increased aerobic activity will result in some circulatory benefit, which could also be related.

Nothing else to report really.

Except that the other ear started ringing a little over a month ago for no apparent reason.

Life is peachy.

Check into sinusitis - a condition I've been having some trouble with.  I haven't been able to really breathe or smell through my nose in years (just a little.)  The condition is bad enough that my super-clogged sinuses actually show on an X-Ray (the doctors thought I was overreacting until they saw the X-Ray then did a double-take!)

I get the whistling in the ears too....    I wonder......

I have sinusitis, but I don't think Eric has it, or at least it's unrelated to his tinnitus.

It's basically clogged sinuses so you sneeze a lot and can't smell very well. I take Nasonex now and my sinusitis is kept in check.

Sinusitis sucks big time.  Dianne had it chronically; meds stopped helping and she finally had to have sinus surgery when the infections just wouldn't let up.  The surgery was five years ago, and she's never since had another problem with it!

It's annoying for me, because I have 'moderate' sinusitis, they won't operate, but I have to take daily meds and that kind of kills my sense of smell and thus taste.

But Eric's the one I feel sympathy for, I'm doing pretty well.

Just an update regarding the Jala Neti stuff.

It's been a few weeks since I started doing it the "correct" way. This, combined with a daily 20-minute run, has done wonders. It's a bizarre solution, but effective - I've not been troubled by any ringing lately.

It's nice to actually want to work with music again! Smiley

Hey, I don't have tinnitus, and I have problems psyching myself up to work with music.. Smiley

Awesome, positively awesome news, Eric. I'm so damn happy for you. It's really a relief- I think we all know how devastating hearing loss/impairment would be.

Excellent! Congrats on the breakthrough! Would be a sad day indeed when great minds such as yours could not enjoy what they love doing.

Indeed! I missed this when it originally appeared, but, you know, I'm glad that I caught it when the happy ending had already been written Smiley

Tinnitus can occur in many ways. Less than a year ago in compulsory army service I had a "fellow" serviceman accidentally shoot an assault rifle next to my right ear during a night watch. It was about five meters away. He "forgot" he had a cartridge in there while firing an empty shot.

The result? I didn't lose any measurable amount of my hearing (thus no compensation), but the ear has a moderate tinnitus and always feels stuffy and little aching. It started feeling like that immediately after the shot and hasn't changed a bit since.

Should I take a shot at this "Jala Neti" stuff?

That Neti article looked like it was written as a highschool essay.  Sad

Once I got to the point where it described mouth-breathers as not cooling their brains enough (thus, why they are called "hotheads") I realized the article wasn't entirely based on facts.

I'll find some other nose-washing articles before I get into it - but I'm all for some sort of solution to @$%^ sinusitis!

I agree that most of it reads like quackery. It describes the Stage 1 technique fairly well though, which is as far as I go with it.

There are certainly worse things you could try, but this one is easy enough, and might actually help.
