Yeah, Alistair, if you can just upload it as-is, it'd be fantastic!

I've been digging for Silpheed music (good ones) for a couple weeks now.  Founds some nice ones, but really - it's all about "Silph of Wind" and I can't find much of that one.  Came across you once or twice, there, Spikey!  Wink

Yeah, but it won't be until December that I'll be posting more. Like you, I'm busy with real life stuff. Smiley Shame the music has to come second, eh?

But yeah, more in December. The whole CD will be finished and posted then.

To me, that remixed MU100 MIDI is like the MT-32 version but much better. The MT-32 soundtrack is way generic- kind of like the original PC-88 soundtrack from Japan. Same instruments in every track, when they shouldn't be. Poor MIDI conversion in some ways by Sierra. They took a lot more risks with Sorcerian, for example (though that didn't turn out that well either).

I like even more the SC-8850 arrangement of "Going In Fortress" (Tom calls it "Attacking The Enemy Base").

It's really, really good. Imagine shooting down ships with that one playing- Wow.

I'll probably mix the remixes, as it were, in the usual style, giving the modules the patches they can do best. I'll have more time after exams.

The thing is, the MIDI data is completely different!  It doesn't have the same rhythmic bassline, instead goes off on almost jazz-y tangents....it's all over the place!  No...  it's too remixed for me.  Too different.  It's not a matter of instrument choices - it's styles.

It's like Charlie Brown picking out a Christmas tree to music of Van Halen.  All wrong.

But thanks for posting it!  You rock for that.  Wink

I don't kow that that's true. At least for one of the others, "Going In Fortress", the original sequence and remix sound almost identical as far as melody goes, thoguh of course the end result is different.

Silph of Wind is a bit different again, a little straying from the original path. But the 'original' (second Wink ) arrangement of the track, the MT-32 sequence, is really lame! Smiley Those lead organs suck.

I get the feeling maybe there's a bit of nostalgia Wink

I certainly disagree with the Charlie Brown analogy. Silpheed is a fast paced beat-y score (and game), and this remix is pumping and quick. But maybe it's a tad remix-y. The others I like are a bit more 'normal'.

There's a lot of remixes I won't even post, because I feel they're so far away from the original.
