I've been able to rip Michel Legrand's excellent music from Torin's Passage using a few utilities, but the quality is pretty disappointing (the music is a sort of compressed audio file, NOT a MIDI). Do high quality archives of the soundtrack exist? Thanks

I'm not aware of any, but I wonder if Al Lowe may know of (or be) a source? And, welcome aboard, Sean.

I'd take low-quality samples just to hear it for the first time.
The ad used to promote the game was likely a fanfare used in many ads because I've heard it many times over the years in ads for just about anything. Probably very different music. [shrug]

I'm having the same peoblem with Shivers. Your best bet is to contact team members who still care about the game, or the composer, or in this case Al. But I doubt heavily Al has anything.
If you do get a high quality rip, please contact me and I'll be happy to upload it on my site, I'm trying to get a lot of digital sountracks sorted.

Back when I worked on The Sierra Archives with Jouke Koning (which went nowhere), I remember that he got a copy of what was supposed to be the Sierra Soundtrack Collection # 2 (which obviously never got released) from Mark Seibert. The first two tracks on it were the Phantasmagoria 1 music which Seibert has put up on his site. The next three were Hecatomb, Opening Sequence and Rage from Phantasmagoria 2 which I have still copies of, albeit as 128kbps MP3s. There were around 15-18 tracks in all. I don't remember what the rest were, except for one which was the LSL7 theme. Maybe there's some Thorin's Passage music on it? I've never e-mailed Seibert, but I know some of you have, so maybe that's worth a try?
I haven't talked to Jouke in years, but I could see if he if I can get in touch with him. Maybe he still got the copy...

I haven't talked to Jouke in years, either- he never signs on to ICQ any more. He helped me a lot, years ago.
As for Sierra Soundtrack Collection #2, yeah, I know about that one. I was one email away from getting it, but I think my wedding got 'in the way', as it were. I need to chase it up.
Unlikely anything from TP on it though, since Seibert didn't work on it (the Sierra soundtrack collection games were all games he'd worked on).
Either way, a full CD rip of Torin's Passage is what's wanted.
Regards, - Alistair

Yeah, i figured this one would be hard to track down. I hope I'm not breaking any rules/laws here, but I've uploaded a little sampling of some of the music http://download.yousendit.com/5A40369724645D08There are better/worse cues in the game. Tracking down Michel Legrand might be a little tough, He probably but by no means certainly speaks English. C'est bien que j'ai étudié le Français ces années. It's worth a shot though.

I e-mailed Al Lowe, and got a nice response, but it looks like I'm out of luck. Oh well, thanks for the suggestions. Here's Al's message: "Thanks for the kind words; I always enjoy hearing from a fan. As far as I know, there is no commercial recording of the music from Torin's Passage, although the producer posted some MIDI recordings on his site, www.MarkSeibert.com . You might try there. I'm sure Michel has forgotten totally about the experience. (I know I would if I had his list of credits! <grin>)"

Well, I don't think Al's spot on with this one.
Torin's Passage was never a MIDI soundtrack and I doubt there's the MIDI's on Seibert's site he claims. As far as I know, there's no MIDI files at all on Seibert's site.
Good point about credits, though.

It's been a long time since he worked with Miles Davis, but somehow I doubt he forgot how to speak English :)

Oh, I was just saying that I didn't know if he spoke English in the first place. Still, I can't even seem to find an agent contact for him.

Try Thierry Sola, who I believe was his agent two years ago.

How did you proceed exactly? Which file does contain the soundtrack? I've tried ripping the resource files with Dragon Unpacker and WinRipper, unfortunately without any success.

Wouldn't GAP be the somewhat obvious answer?
Surely you've heard of that one man.
