I've had this same problem on the SMC boards for a while now and now it's happening here with the new forums link. I log in and click the "stay logged in" checkbox and when I go away and come back I have to log in again. It's really annoying. Any explanations?

Is there any chance you are alternating between these two URLs?

http://www.queststudios.com/smf/index.php

and

http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php

?

Also, have you set your browser to permit cookies from the queststudios.com domain?

Cookies not enabled or being deleted would have been my only guess.  I've been accessing this forum from three ISP's and several computers today, using Firefox and IE, and so far that hasn't happened to me.   Both with and without the "www" work the same for me.

Doesn't happen on my board for me, so I guess you need to open IE and change settings. My cookie settings are "Medium", if that helps. If you're using XP SP2 the settings are pretty.. conservative, to say the least, so maybe it's blocking your usage.

And for the love of, don't use Windows Firewall!!!

I'm using Firefox not IE. And cookies are not blocked from Quest Studios. In fact I have my user name and password saved in the program to automatically fill in for this site. When I go to log in everything pops up and I don't have to type. It must be a cookie thing but I don't understand why it's happening.

I'm using Firefox v 1.5.0.7 at home, but I don't have any login issues with this or any other forum.  I DID have what you describe happen a while ago, with phpBB ... where the 'filled-in' login box would popup and I'd have to click OK to progress.  I posted about it at the time, wondering if anybody else had that problem.  They didn't.  Smiley  That was a few Firefox versions ago, though.  But I don't know if that was a browser issue, either, since my wife was using the same version of Firefox at the time and didn't have the problem.

Figured out what my problem was. The URL that was linked to the QS Message Board in my favorites began with WWW instead of just queststudios.com. Since the forum automatically redirects to http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php, it couldn't keep me logged in.

Now that I fixed the link, it doesn't do that anymore.

Wow that seems to have worked for me, too! Thanks! I didn't think the favourites had anything to do with the password manager!

I does seem a little odd, but apperently that's how it works. I'm glad it worked for you too!  Smiley

I wonder if it'll also help to create an additional redirect from "http://www.queststudios.com/smf/index.php" to "http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php", so that people who have bookmarks with "www" won't experience what you guys did.

Hmmm....I see that I had already done that and it didn't make a difference for you guys.  Strange.

I should point out that this did not work for SMC, so it must be something else for your forums, Alistair. Unless you have URL forwarding or something which I doubt.
