The cheapest instrument in existence eh? Fascinating...I'll have to look it up in ebay sometime...the sticks and stones I can find in my own back yard if I'll ever have a need for them (I certainly doubt it though)  :smt082

You can get the demo from Wyrmkeep's website. It has the full GM-converted soundtrack in one directory after installing. Keep in mind that this is just a straight conversion of the MT-32 soundtrack to GM, and as such doesn't sound as good in some places. (The lack of a Soundtrack instrument, for instance, is a detriment in some places.)

That isn't the COMPLETE soundtrack, though that is the kind of quality I want.

You can listen to the midis played on the GUS yourself, buy installing the patch banks under DOSBOX. How you can do that read here:
http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=4287&highlight=gus+patches
 or here http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?page=GUSPatches
It works but for me only with crackling sound.

You mean someone else's saved game that you can drop into your game directory and pick up from there, correct?  I looked around but everything came back in German.  Most of the links turned out to be for newer games, although they did say they were for Inherit the Earth.

I just used a search engine (Metacrawler) and typed in "Inherit the Earth Savegames".  I'd suggest trying it for yourself, but like I said I couldn't really find anything.

Might be best to find someone who has the game and see if they'll send you some of their savegames.  Most online searches just bring back nonsense.

Can someone send me the MIDIS from the Windows version of ITE? I can't make my own gamerip from the DOS version because:

1. I couldn't find any savegames to download

2. My Mac savegames crash the DOS version

3. I was unable to make a music mod with GameHack.

The DOS version has identical music to the Mac soundtrack I already sent you, except that the Mac version uses standard MIDI and the DOS version uses XMI. The demo of the Windows version should include a full set of MIDI files, covering the entire game.

I downloaded the demo, and it didn't have the complete soundtrack!

Where did you get the demo that did?

You're right, it is missing - I could have sworn it had it all. Either way, however, this new soundtrack isn't as good, since GM just doesn't have some MT-32 sounds, like Soundtrack; you're not missing much. If you do want the entire thing, you should buy the game.

(GM definitely has 'Soundtrack', but not as good as the original patch from the MT.. which can also be found in any Roland Sound Canvas MT-32 tone map.)

Oh, right, sorry... I'd forgotten that. I mixed myself up, and was thinking of the "GM" soundtrack from the original DOS version. The Windows version is still uninspiring, but not as bad as the DOS version.
