I'm not having much luck here....!

In addition to the big-ass DG MPU-401 box I obtained, without its ISA interface card, I have now also obtained the breakout box for the MPU-IPC, again without ... the card.

As I understand it, in this case it's even worse, because most of the important tech is ON THE CARD, unlike with the original MIF-IPC cards.

Anyway so now I have two breakout boxes that I can't use. Can't seem to find the interface cards on eBay or anywhere else. I'm just trying to get a Roland-compatible MPU-401 interface...!

Anybody been looking for breakout boxes for some reason? Can we do a swap? I'm not technically capable of making my own MIF-IPC card, and I'm sure the MPU-IPC card is even harder...

Heh heh... silence like the sound of crickets...

Unbelievably, I have managed to get ANOTHER breakout box sans the essential ISA card!!

Now, in addition to the huge DG MPU-401, and the MPU-IPC, I am now also the proud owner of an MPU-IPC-T breakout box with attached cable.

Do I win a prize for the largest collection of useless breakout boxes?  Undecided

EDIT: oops.. just went through my box and found an extra breakout box - not an extra card. Sorry Sad

I'm interested in the MPU-401 box if you want to sell it.

BTW: nice score http://cgi.ebay.com/Roland-ISA-card-MIDI-MPU-IPC-T_W0QQitemZ320099491790QQihZ011QQcategoryZ74946QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

 Grin You found me out!

Yep I've been taking the advice of my Australian compatriot and watching eBay like a hawk. Will have to slow down a bit now, though, because my wife is getting mad...

So the SCC-1 kinda obviates the need for all these MPU-401s now, since I only wanted them for the Roland-compatible interface, which I assume I won't need now. That's correct, right?

Do you have the ISA card for the old MPU-401? Can you use it?

Yep the scc-1 will do all you need.. but you will have to find some mini din - MIDI cables now

While I don't have the PC card for the MPU-401 box, I've got the cards for the apple ii and the c64 so I was planning on using it with that.

It's not a real problem since Creative is selling (or at least did sell up until recently) these mini 5-pin MIDI cables online, as do several other companies.

They do. But buying 2 of them plus shipping adds about $20 to the cost of your SCC-1. Which is a 3rd of the purchase price.

It's still pretty cheap compared to the original price.
I think I paid about 6$ for each cable and about 5$ for S&H.
