I get a hotlink protection page http://xmplay.net/leech.html I already got the file by going around that protection, but you may want to fix that.

Thank you, Rhizome, this is a wonderful selection of XG Midis.
I do own the Yamaha DB50XG daughterboard, and I would love to listen to these tracks with the real hardware. Is there a way to download or convert these files from .ogg to .mid or whichever way the Yamaha XG is able to read them natively?
Thank you, and I appreciate these wonderful tracks.

Converting back is only possible by re-arranging the songs into midi by hand, which would be very impractical to say the least. The original midi's can be found just by googling on the name of the song + the artist. Or, if you're lazy, go here: http://www.megatrade.ru/Russian/Midi.html

I'm currently digging through the XG MIDIs I have that were composed on an MU100, MU100R and SW1000XG after getting hold of an MU100R last week. This thing means business - 7 FX processors, 64 poly, 32 channels, over 1,200 voices, 43 drum kits

Right, here are some MU100R recordings - mostly DB50XG/MU10 MIDIs, but it shows that Yamaha kept compatibility pretty much the same regarding XG patches. Use anything in the GM bank though, and it's most likely to sound different. Differences in the MU100R compared to the MU10 are mostly: - Higher quality samples (more crisp) - Longer loop points - Higher quality variations, filters and reverb (7 FX processors compared to 3 in the MU10) ...and here we go! Dude - Badlands (that's not actually a guitar patch you hear - it's Pulse Sawtooth with a load of variations on it - I think it was composed on an MU100R) JD Harding - A New Age (composed on an MU100R) JRG - FloatingJRG - Rhizome (listen to how the reverb is no longer centered, but is panned out) MU-lator & M4U - Distant DevotionsSascha Henken - Edge of DarknessTrond Olsen - Cut and Paste (this MIDI actually overflows XG devices, presenting a "MIDI buffer full!" error on the screen) Unfortunately, I cannot play around with the Virtual Acoustic daughterboard on my MU100R - it appears it was removed

That badlands song has wayyyy too much reverb in it for my tastes, but Rhizome sounds even better than I'm used to!

If the MU100R is anything like the SW1000XG, songs composed for the DB50xg, SW60xg, etc. will have an abundance of reverb. I honestly like the tracks by Morten Hagen Svendsen and edited the files for better playback on the SW1000XG (the ones that need it, anyway). This might include reducing reverb, bumping up the volume of certain instruments that don't sound quite the same (some of the instruments sound more "real" on the SW1000XG-- the flutes are more airy and less... ummm... tweety so they're quieter), and some instruments need to be reduced in volume-- that patch called "Dream" can be brutal on the SW1000XG and sound like terrible feedback when the volume and reverb were set originally for the DB50xg. Anyway, I need to get XGworks reloaded now that I have gotten my SW1000xg working in my system again

MU100R, MU100 and SW1000XG are all the same, besides the physical differences Which reminds me, download links don't work anymore and due to the change of my website, I'll only be leaving the directory structure up. You can access that here, and there are many other tracks I've uploaded since this thread

First posted updated with several new tracks and all re-encoded to quality 8 ogg vorbis for the BitJam radio stream. There's also a nice MU100R recording there too, although a slight error with it due to the missing VL plugin board

Hi, thank you for posting these. I sold off my XG equipment years ago, didn't think anyone was still using this stuff. regarding the differences between devices, although the SW1000 and MU100 had the same spec, the settings, such as effects, filters and so on varied so that tracks sound different. Same goes for the DB50, SW60 and Mu10. It's only really a problem when potent effects are being used (at least that was my experience). Another good XG musician is Nick Christian/Art of Doubt thanks very much, richard

I sold off my XG equipment years ago, didn't think anyone was still using this stuff. I'm mostly using it to record the XG scene music regarding the differences between devices, although the SW1000 and MU100 had the same spec, the settings, such as effects, filters and so on varied so that tracks sound different. I remember reading some of the messages you left in your MIDI files regarding differences in the playback on an SW60XG and the MU10 - good to know what they are! Another good XG musician is Nick Christian/Art of Doubt Thanks, will check the 800+ XG MIDI files I have to see if I have any from him thanks very much, richard
You're most welcome - I'll probably get onto recording the rest of your work now, it's good when composers get in touch

Thanks for the clips Rhizome. Trond Olson and Sascha Henken will always have a place in the XG hall of fame!
I noticed your recording of Trond Olson's "Jamma" seems to have more stereo separation (which I kinda like!) than the output of my SW1000XG. Any idea why? Are you using the original file from the Megatrade XG site, or have you tweaked it some?

Would anyone be interested in hearing XG recordings from a digital Yamaha MU2000(EX)?

I'd be curious to hear GS playback with Roland's DLS bank loaded. I'd started working on this before sending the MU2000 back. Some of the drumsets need to be removed before the unit will accept the GM.DLS bank; I might still have the version I edited somewhere... Other than that, the MU2000EX, even with the digital out, doesn't significantly improve upon the MU100/R playback, unless you're recording something specifically composed for it...

It's the original file from the Megatrade XG website, however it was recorded from my MU10 (so a level 1 XG device and not a level 2 like the MU100/R/SW1000XG).
