As the subject says.

Probably rubbish, right ?
Any comments at all ?

Any point in acquireing it if already having Roland/Yamaha variants ?

If you already have a roland or yamaha, the only good it will be is for collection purposes.

The samples on the thing are downright awful.

The Waveblaster II is the same wavetable on the AWE32 if I'm not mistaken.

Not exactly.  The AWE32 has a 1MB ROM patch, the Waveblaster II has a 2MB ROM patch.  Creative 2MB RAM patch probably sounds very like the WB II.

Oh well then, I guess I'll pass on this one...  Cheesy

If anyone of you TRUE collectors out there wants it, check out number 250226791883, you know where...
BUT, you will have to ask that person nicely to ship to your place - to open the auction that is.
(he IS willing, but you have to ask for it - currently limited to Germany/Switzerland)

WB1 stank....  WB-II stank less.  But it's no Yamaha or Roland unit by any stretch...  don't bother.

So you grabbed it, the seller was unwilling to sell to foreign bidders
Well, according to the description the seller would have accepted bids from EU countries on demand.
Did you intend to bid on it?

must be the first austrian guy on Ebay so far I know of that doesn't want to sell to foreigners
Did I already tell the story of my Roland SCC-1?
I got it for €  1.-- because the seller refused to send it anywhere, you had to come personally and fetch the card!
Fortunately he lived within walking distance from my flat. Grin

I tried to snipe it at the end but foreign bids were blocked

Hmmm, if you are really interested in the DB, I'm ready to relay it to you. Shipping costs to Sweden shouldn't be very expensive.

The WB II board arrived today. Sounds very similar to an AWE32 indeed, but it is less heavy on the chorus&reverb effects, and the samples seem a bit clearer.

Does the WB II have the GS soundfont that comes with the AWE32, or is that what the extra 1MB is for?

I know on my AWE32 I can select a "GS" mode and then it fills the 512KB RAM that's spare.

I have the utils floppy disk to let you change sample and playback modes if you want it... yes, I was one of those idiots that bought a WBII new back in the days Grin

I do want a WBI now just for "collection purposes" though... I've seen one on ebay a long time ago, it was almost $100, and also saw one on yahoo japan last year... also expensive
