Recently bought a boxed Sound Blaster 1.5 which to my suprise had the CMS chips..which creative hadn't put stickers on, the CMS upgrade docs came with the card so the previous owner probably bought them as an official CMS upgrade

I got 5 5.25 floppy disks with the card but no install disks with drivers as ctvoice etc which I know games like Moonstone depend on...does anyone here know where to find them?

I've just set up the card with the SET BLASTER line in autoexec.bat which I know will suffice for 95% of all DOS games

Hi Amigaz,

Cloudshatze already posted it somewhere in this forum. Anyway... check out the link below.

http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php?topic=2203.msg26098#msg26098

You mentioned that you got 5 (five) 5.25 floppy disks with the card. Do you mind posting it here? Please use WinImage to zip to whole floppy image. I would like to see what is in the additional floppy.

Possible for you to scan the CMS upgrade docs that came with the card as PDF and post it here as well?

The discs he's posted are the same as mine except one...they are no install discs...just the software that came with the card

Sure, you know a image program that works in win3.11? I don't have a 5.25 inch drive in any of my win9x boxes Sad

I seem to recall that at least one other game required an early version of ctvoice.drv, but came with the file.  Either the game could load the driver or the user could in his config.sys.

Remove that FM1312 sticker, let the chip's true identity be shown to the world!

Amigaz,

Try the Version 3.00 and see if it works on win311.

http://www.winimage.com/download.htm

If not using WinZip also ok. Now what u need to do is to look for a 5.25 inch floppy disk drive...  Cool

Maybe I can create the C:\SB\DRV patch manually and put the CTVOICE.DRV from my SB2.0 disk there?, and not forget to SET SOUND=C:\SB   Wink

hehe, no way I'm removing that sticker Wink

I use to have my original Adlib (1987 model) in the 386 PC I'm using the SB1.5 in now but I couldn't live without the speech and the rest of the digital crap a sound blaster can produce

Dang,....just forgot that after creating these images I can't transfer them from this 486PC since it has no internet support or means to burn a cd etc, lol

I'd better see if the rest of the 5.25 drives work I have in store and stuff one in my P200 box

Thats where I got mine, and you need to buy two chips, but after you plug them in the CMS/Game Blaster music will work like a charm on your "1.5".

Thanks, Mike

Amigaz,

I think the CMS Intelligent Organ is in the fifth disk we were talking about at the beginning of the post. Is it done yet? Anyway... please post all 5 disks here so that we all can compare whether there's another revision for the software bundled at SB 1.5 era.

You could always try to get a game blaster on ebay for cheaper, and desoldering the CMS chips.

OK, what should the correct SET BLASTER values be for a SB 1.5? I think that variable came after the card, my Readme file only mentions SET SOUND. I don't think 8 bit SBs used a DMA channel, or did they?

Also... the diagnostic TEST-SBC won't play any FM music. This is after I installed the CMS chips. Any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks!

If anyone's interested.... it seems CMS sound is working after all, tried SQ1 VGA and recorded the intro in CMS and Adlib modes, and I can hear the difference. So probably just the diagnostic programs being fussier than the games.
