As there's a PC speaker input on most post Sound Blaster Pro cards there must be a special cable for it, is there still a place where they can be found or do I have to make my own somehow?

There's one on my SB32 as well, but I never found any cable for it. I made my own using those front panel cables that come with cabinets nowadays. I never use the chassis intrusion cable anyway... Smiley

The interesting thing is that Creative used a two pin header while IBM PCs and many compatibles used a four pin header.  What I did was to take a CD audio cable and to switch the wires around on one end to match the respective pinouts.

Sound Blaster:
Pin 1 = +5V
Pin 2 = Speaker

IBM PC:
Pin 1 = Speaker
Pin 2 = None/Key
Pin 3 = Ground (No need to connect)
Pin 4 = +5V
