The CM-500 is now in my posession. It's in damn fine working condition. I'm very happy with it!

If you really want pictures of my CM-500, I can post them when I find the USB cable for my digital camera... It's yellowing actually, but the sound is the only thing that matters to me. And it plays flawless.

Have fun with your CM-500. I hope you didn't have to pay this much for it - this guy is either greedy or just clueless.

Oh, I've seen that auction too... No, it only cost me about 100 USD including shipping from Japan.

You could purchase a Yamaha MU100R or a Sound Canvas 88 Pro for half of that bloody price!  Roll Eyes

What's worse is that he/she doesn't accept Paypal.

Hi,

Nice.
I recently bought a CM-500 too and I notice that my version only has the GS logo on the right side while yours has the General MIDI and GS logo.
This is also the case with the SC-55, some only have the GS logo and others have both.
Would there be any difference in the device or is it just a cosmetic thing?

Somebody here mentioned that some CM-500's respond to GS reset, while others to GM reset. That's all I know, and I'm not sure it depends on whether the "GM" logo is there.

The models without the GM logo interpret a GM System On as a GS-Reset, whereas the models with the GM logo recognize both, and respond accordingly. (Bank Select and NRPN controllers are "disabled" in GM mode.)
