Charles MacDonald has made a PAL reader that can read protected PAL's (not registered) in case any other PAL's need to be read Smiley

Pretty nifty. I wonder if it would have correctly identified and taken into account the grounded pins though?

In any event, the SB2.0 w/CMS I'd loaned to Chuck arrived back today, along with one of the newly-programmed GAL chips. This shouldn't be much of a surprise, but the cloned chip works like a champ. Smiley

Cloudschatze,

Can you tell me what type of GAL he used? Thanks. Now, i wish I had picked up more of the Phillips chips when I had a chance. I only have two and need at least two more.

I dont know exactly how it works, but it should read and copy of the PAL, the ground pins are more how it works on the soundbalster board i guess?

Right. Seems like it would probably just work out the logic until it matched the read input. Kind-of a moot point now, in any event. Smiley

I just found this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Stereo-F-X-8-bit-8bit-ISA-Sound-Card-CMS-SAA1099P-Yamaha-YM3812-Vintage-PC-/200671498887

Is this card really CMS compatible? I always thought the early soundblaster was the only compatible model out there.

Seller claims to have five for sale. Five!
His asking price: $146.08!!!!! (mind the odd cents).
0__0

Anyway the price kills it for me. It's outrageous.

I wonder if this is SB Pro compatible...The SB PRO 1.0 no longer had the CMS sockets.

I was sure this card had to have been mentioned before here and so it was:

http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php?topic=2553.0

According to Patrick Chang, it works great, provided you have the drivers to configure it. Wayback Machine shows the ATI support page:

http://web.archive.org/web/20011007095932/http://support.ati.com/products/pC/soundcards/sfx.html

The documents mention CMS Gameblaster support.

Too bad it's so expensive. Would love to make music for it.
