Hello

King's Quest VI was always one of my favorite adventures, and I'd like to play it again with the speech and text at the same time. As I recall, there was some kind of configuration hack in the resource.cfg that was possible to make this happen. However, I can't seem to find it again. Can anyone tell me if this is possible, or how to get text boxes while the speech is always audible?

I would like to use the game for education of non-English speakers, so having the text AND the speech is very important.

Thanks for any suggestions

If it is possible it should be available right from the game's control panel. I don't remember if it is or not. Editing the resource.cfg file will do nothing.

NRS did a patch for the CD-ROM version of Space Quest IV which patched it with the ability to have both text and speech at the same time because it didn't previously. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? I'm sure KQ6 has the option for both natively, though.

Not that I am aware of...

Perhaps you are thinking of Quest for Glory 4.

I don't think it does either.

But- with KQ7, I once jacked with some settings and got speech to play with text- I'm sure it's possible, but just resource.cfg editing may not be enough. (IIRC- in game you can have speech OR text selected.)

Nope. Can be added though. For 95% of the game, it's just a matter of changing one variable. The rest 5% are modeless windows, where the code has to be changed manually for each instance. Also, there no "BOTH" button in the game resources, so someone would have to draw one.
