TOM:Thanks for your comments on the Nutville mp3 posted in the MIDI Blaster thread.
I don't want to hijack that thread so I started this one in a more appropriate place.
The 'Nutville' MIDI file was sequenced quite well, but this MP3 sounds pretty much like any other FM synth I've heard over the years. Poor. The MIDI sounds much better played through a Roland SC-8820...even though the mix might be a tad ... off.
The AWE32 does have a FM synth but that was a soundfont.
The Chaos 8Mb sf contains PCM samples assembled by Yoon Sung Jin about 12 years ago using samples extracted from the SC55 (IIRC).
I'd really be interested in hearing the file played back thru the SC-8820.
Could I ask a favour?
Would it be possible to record a segment from the "Nutville" MIDI file as a mp3?
(The section containing the last half of the tenor solo thru to the first half of the trumpet solo would do).
You could send the file to me or post a link to it here - I'll pick it up within 48 hours of posting.
If you would like to do a rough mix to get better balance thru the SC-8820 you can use the single CC7 at the head of each track.
If you dont still have the MIDI file here is the link:
http://tinyurl.com/2rq3rh/Nutville.midI would really appreciate that.
Thanks in advance.
