Hey folks,

Simple q- is it easy and safe to open my Roland's, e.g. MT-32/SC-55 and remove dust/dirt and clean the insides?
Or is it a dangerous deal?

I imagine I just unscrew the screws and carefully clean, but I wanted to ask advice from the experts Smiley

BTW- cleaned all my synths with DeoxIT/ProGold tonight- hope the stuff works!

In case anyone is confused, I'm cleaning all my equipment properly before setting up my home studio in my new house.

Regards,
- Alistair

When I opened up my MT-32, CM-32L and CM-64 there was no dust - at all - inside of them, so I doubt any cleaning is required Smiley

I have never seen dust inside a Roland product, except perhaps for the CM-64's slot.

Same here, no cleaning required, they're basically closed boxes so no dust can get inside.

Nevertheless, if you're careful nothing bad will happen.

I only clean the 1/4" audio output jacks on my MT-32. Keeps the chances of any oxidation to a minimum. Aside from that, no cleaning is ever required for the internals. It is pretty well sealed off. I will occasionally use compressed air to rid the MIDI jacks of any dust that found its way in.

One bit of preventative maintenance I perform occasionally is to polish the clear plastic covering over the LCD with a thick coat of high quality automotive cleaning wax. It offers protection, keeps it clean, and gives it a crystal clear shine that lasts for years.
