Hello, I'm new to this forum and would like to know, if somebody owns this card: Orchid Wavebooster 4fx

It's a DREAM based wavetable daughterboard. I have the card, but not the dos utility, that is described in the owners manual:

http://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/Archive/Micronics/manuals/wbooster.pdf (Page 18, BSTDOS.EXE)

Has somebody also this utility? It allows you to configure the daughter board in dos, choosing mode (GM, MT-32 and variations) drum kit, effects a.s.o. It's likely that especially the MT-32 emulation is crap, but I'm eager to test it anyway.

Thanks in advance

Apparently they were bought by Diamond Multimedia (I guess you already know this). You might want to try accessing their ftp site ftp.diamondmm.com. I wasn't able to log in anonymously but maybe you will have better luck. I was able to find a mirror http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Hardware/Diamond/Legacy-Orchid/AUDIO/ but unfortunately it doesn't have the Wavebooster drivers. I also found this site:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/d8ahgs

It points to "www.treiber-archiv.de" (google translated). Has a file named "orchid_wavebooster_win95_v2-0.zip" but it asks you to pay for a subscription before downloading. If it's a fraud or not I don't know.

According the the Internet WayBack machine the original driver filename is "!WB.EXE". Seems to be is a self-extracting ZIP file about 874KB. Searching for it doesn't bring anything useful though.

Just out of curiosity if you do find the file let us know. Good luck!
