It's now free for the download at the Voyetra/Turtle Beach web site... http://turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=files&CategoryID=315I was a beta tester for it way back in 1990 and got a free copy, but had been using Voyetra's other "S"equencer "P"lus products beforehand; Sp2 and Sp3.

Now I remember. This program came bundled with my Sound Blaster Pro way back then. I ran it under DOSBox but didn't do much because I couldn't figure out how to open a file. The help screen (F1) doesn't tell you how. Is there a pdf of the manual I can download?

SpG came bundled with a sound card? I've never heard of that. Maybe it was a toned-down version of Sequencer Plus?
The manual for SpG is a pretty thick book, not unlike the binder used for Sp2 and Sp3. I remember posting a PDF of the 'Quick Reference' card that came with SpG, a while back, so I'll take a look for it.

It probably was a lite version. I remember the floppy said "Voyetra Sequencer Plus" (without the "Gold") but that's about as far as I can recall.

Ahh, now I remember seeing that as well; Sequencer Plus WAS indeed bundled with some sound cards. The version was limited in the number of tracks and transforms (included no MIDI transforms), and allowed only one MIDI port (so you couldn't control multiple MIDI devices on numerous ports.) No bank arranger or MIDI analyzer, etc.

I decided to split this discussion off from the thread where it began ( Newbie Guide for Demoing/Managing Sysex Patches), because it went in a different direction from the original topic. Normally that's no big deal, but since that aforementioned thread was made sticky, I thought it'd be better to keep it SysEx specific. Hope you don't mind and hope the re-location isn't too confusing. -Luke

Hey Tom to my surprise I still have my old Sequencer Plus floppy. It was stored away in an old box. Just like we talked about it's not the "gold" version and the label says "for the Sound Blaster Pro". The disk looks like it might still work! Click to enlarge

Once you learn Voyetra's software (the good one, not a tame version) you will never want to use anything else. It is the best software ever made, with the exception of Finale, but that's another ballgame. It's a learning curve - in fact I taught Tom how to use it when we first met on PC Link before it became AOL. But once you memorize the shortcuts, it's lightening fast, intuitive when composing, and does what you need it to do.

I have a similar opinion regarding Cakewalk 3.1. The only thing keeping me from learning SPG is the lack of a user manual. The help screen provided by the program is not enough to learn how to work with it (specially sysex patches).

We used Cakewalk for awhile. No comparison. Voyetra wins hands down for ease of use and overall abilities. I'm sorry you don't have a manual . . . nothing came with your version?
