Hello,

I'm in the pursuit for an "intelligent" MIDI connection from my PC to an MT-32.  I've seen a couple of MPU-IPC-T breakout boxes available...but only the boxes.  It looks like it has a 25-pin pigtail connector out of one end.

The question is what PC card/port is sufficient for the module? Is a standard 25-pin serial or parallel port? A MPU-401 UART compliant sound card?

Or can just ignore the pigtail and connect it using a standard MIDI cable from a UART card to the MIDI in and the MT-32 to the MIDI out port?  If I do it that way, where does the power come from?

Thank you in advance.

Well I found this thread: http://queststudios.com/smf/index.php/topic,1196.60.html.  I'll try this setup and see how it works.
