Alone in the Dark (original floppy version) offers an option of Sound Blaster Pro in the menu. Does it have any stereo support? SB Pro was always grayed out when I had my SB16 way-back-when, and now seems to crash on my 386-SX40, when I put my SBPro1 or SBPro2 in that system.

Note: the game has always worked in SB mono mode

Bit of a bump, but might be of interest seeing this post hasn't been answered...

I tried the Alone in the Dark Demo: http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download...-the-dark/

Test card: SB Pro 2.0

Music: Works with setting SB and SB Pro
Effects: Works with SB DMA, SB no DMA. SB Pro option > Blinking cursor, machine locks up

ESS AudioDrive 1868F: Exact same behavior

Now the music isn't Stereo, so I doubt the effects would be Stereo. I wouldn't worry about it and just select Sound Blaster (DMA) for sound effects!
