I'm now a proud owner of a Playstation 3. I own an XBOX360, a PSP, and a Nintendo DS as well. So I'm very much into gaming. I have a lot of Blu-Ray films, and this console will play them more conveniently than a PC does.

I probably use my PS3 for watching Blu-Ray more than anything else, it's also usually very good at picking up your media shares from your PC's.  My must play selections:  Pixeljunk Monsters, Fat Princess.  Both are available via the PSN Store.  Two simple addictive little games Smiley

Have fun!

I convinced my wife to buy a PS3 for Blu-Ray movies, but the games are a bonus for me. So far I'm enjoying Heavy Rain and the God of War collection. I also like the PSN-exclusive games like Thexder Neo, Digger, and Lemmings.  My Xbox is still my main gaming console, but I like my PS3 for Blu-Ray goodness, modest power consumption, and the odd exclusive game title that pops up every now and again.

If you have a linux box for media, you can set up MediaTomb and the PS3 will be able to access music and video off of it.  MediaTomb is a little clunky in implementation (it doesn't track changes to the filesystem, you have to manually add and remove everything with its database), but it works well enough.  And on Windows, if you enable media sharing in Windows Media Player, then the PS3 can access anything you share there, too.

If you want to get Shoutcast streams onto your PS3, you have to bounce them through a re-streamer.  TVersity (Windows) is capable of this, there may be similar progs for Linux but I haven't really looked since I've only wanted to do that one time.

As mentioned, the Uncharted series is excellent, and Heavy Rain is also a PS3 exclusive.  You'll also find the continuing Ratchet & Clank game series, and the curious multi-player platform game with its own built-in level editor, LittleBigPlanet.

Sony also has the "Metal Gear Solid" series which continues on the PS3 with MGS 4.
