Video I made today for the ScummVM devs to see the differences between the DOS and Windows music tracks in King's Quest 5. Thought you might find it interesting.

Any differences in other games, such as King's Quest VII?

'Fraid not. KQ7 already had GM music so it didn't need to be reworked. It seems that given the situation where KQ5 needed to be translated to GM, Mark Seibert took the opportunity to make some changes to the soundtrack that he maybe always wanted to make? I remember and article or interview somewhere where he mentioned making some changes to KQ5Win's soundtrack. Don't remember for the life of me from where, though.

Nice, thanks MI!

If I had to guess, I'd say the best candidate for alternate music would be the Windows version of Space Quest IV...

One big difference was KQ5-Windows was remapped to a MIDI map (early GM sorta') rather than directly supporting a music device.

Yes. I guess I didn't mention that as well, but I was aware of that.

It REALLY affected how the music sounded, even when the music tracks themselves weren't altered (most notably the melody of Weeping Willow.)

Nope, no changed music. A few different sound effects though.

And my take is that the Willow music was changed when they recorded the vocals, the original melody being too difficult to sing, as it requires greater vocal range.
