Well my CM-64 had something flying around inside, so I needed to open it anyway.

But I was also wondering if I could turn my CM-64 into a CM-32L by simply unplugging the CM-32P board, but it doesn't look like it's that simple of a mod...

If anyone does know a mod for this, please let me know!

The bottom board is the CM-32L and the top board is the CM-32P. The audio ports are on the CM-32P however, so who knows what happens if you "unplug" the CM-32P part... I doubt it's that simple...

I've thought about installing a 3-way switch (CM-32L/CM-32P/BOTH) to get a lower noise floor, but unfortunately, I don't know how it could be done.

The CM-64 will work properly with any game supporting the CM-32L, if you execute sysex to turn off the PCM part before loading up a game.

My interest are not so much because of compatibility, but my initial thought was that if a CM-64 or 32L would fail I could use the board from the other unit...

The unused boards also draws unnecessary power doing nothing for the unforeseeable future...
