Hi 2 all,

During the last months I've been working in my spare times in making a version of the Doom 2 soundtrack for using it as an addon file with Doomsday engine (http://dengine.net/).

As you probably know, doomsday is one of the engines to play games such as Doom, Doom 2, Hexen and Heretic in modern PCs, making use of accelerated graphics and many other enhancements, while keeping most of the original feeling and gameplay. One of the most interesting things is that you can use several addon files (in .pk3 format) to get better graphics, sound and so on (besides new levels and several other mods).

I've made a .pk3 file (downloadable at http://shadowfax.ismael.cat/Doom2/music_doom2.PK3) containing all the .ogg files of the whole Doom 2 soundtrack. I've taken the original .mus files (converted to midi files) and, as usual, recorded  the tracks using my synths (Fantom XR, Motif Rack XS, and so on). When placing the .pk3 file in the right folder, you can listen the new versions of the classic tracks just in the same order as in the original game. Aslo, if anyone is interested only in the audio tracks, you can use a program such as Winrar to unpack the .pk3 file and extract the individual .ogg files.

I hope you'll like it.

PS: If you're interested in giving doomsday engine a try, make sure that you download the latest beta, and not the older official release. The latest beta is much more user friendly and it works like a charm (at least to me).

Cool stuff man!  Have not listened to it all yet.

I did something similar a long time ago with only my SC-8850, it was my only major synth at the time.

I did all of the Doom 1 Soundtrack, and some of the Doom 2 Soundtrack.
