Minor, minor error here... sorry to even bring it up...
A few months ago, I used NavyNuke's JukeBox program and your King's Quest II+ VGA Songlist page to make a complete soundtrack:

However, that track is much too jaunty and happy for the "Wolf Pack Encounter", and after watching Paw Dugan's recent playthrough of KQ2+, it doesn't match the music that plays during the sequence (assuming that is the "Wolf Pack Encounter" in question).
The music that plays while the two wolves run pass Graham after he leaves the Church ("Wolf Pack Encounter", Track 71) should be MUSIC039.
It turns out both tracks (MUSIC039 and MUSIC807) are each about 7 seconds long, so this is likely the cause of the mix-up.
