I got my SC-88 today - seems to be working properly. Can someone tell me how to set it into SC-55 mode? How do I reset the module? And where do I find midi files composed for it?

Google is your friend? --> http://media.rolandus.com/manuals/SC-88_OM.pdf

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but page 72 has something about a CM64 map. Page 94 says something about sysex messages you should read.

Yeah, Google is my friend - I've more or less figured it out by now. Still interested in SC-88 midi files though...

The Falcom "Sorcerian MIDI Collection" has a lot of SC-88 files- visit Mirsoft.info and you should be able to find it. Some are SC-55, some are 88. They're very very good.

the led on the front panel will cycle from sc55 to sc55mk 2 and then to sc88 when pressed.

the 7 demo midifiles on the floppy disk that came with the sc88 module. the 5th demo uses 2 midi ports.

I'm jealous - you have no idea how much I miss my beloved SC-88... I was a desperate fool to have ever sold it.  Sad

It's a great module for sure, but it's very dated at this point.  No need to fret over selling one.  Smiley  Congratulations on the purchase, by the way.  The sound canvas series, especially at the 88 level and up, are great sketch modules; and have a good and fun sound character that is perfect for video game composition - if you're into that kind of thing.

Unfortunately, I don't compose. Would love doing it, but really wouldn't know how to start...
