The instrument I'd like to hear emulated is the MT-32's "Soundtrack" patch. None of the Sound Canvas models do it justice. It must be an "L/A" thing. Such a warm, beautiful and somewhat eerie or haunting sound that gets washed away on the Sound Canvas.
And that one patch has proved to be the hardest to emulate. Using spectrum software, I've been able to hit the PCM and square wave synthesis dead-on. What remains, however, is accurate sawtooth filtering. I just can't get the filter and the decay times right. Once I get that the emulation should be complete.
