A while back, I uploaded several MIDI compositions my wife and I had been working on for an upcoming project.  Only the moderators heard the pieces.

Since this project won't be made public for at least a couple of years, I thought I'd upload a segment of the music, here.  An "Old West" piece.  However, this music file is a drastically altered version of the real theme we'll be using in the project.  (This was just playing around for the fun of it.)  Also, it was recorded "live" from my garage (after pulling the car out, of course), in front of 2500 people.  (Isn't easy fitting 2500 people into a 2-car garage!)

Because I'm not at liberty to say what this music is for (please don't ask), I'll just say it's NOT for a school play, a radio commercial, late-night adult programming, or my daughter-in-law's wedding.  It's for something else.  (Hope that doesn't give it away.)

The music was written by Dianne (the missus) and myself, though I performed this version alone using the Sound Canvas SC-8820 sound module and nothing else.  (Dianne would have no part in my botching up the song.)  There's no XG or MT-32 tracks in here.  Except for the harmonica and bass, the original theme doesn't contain any of these instruments...nor is the original recorded 'live'.

This is only a segment of the song as well, lasting about 2:30 mins.  I sequenced it in this manner,  last year, because I wanted to play around with the SC-8820's electric guitars and keyboards...see how they would sound, as it were.  (They sound better than my real electric guitars.)  So anyway, if you're interested, here's:

When I first played the piece, the first thing that came to mind was a strip joint filled with people wildly cheering while an article of clothing was being taken off one by one. Sorry if that's not what you intended to project, Tom. It's just what came to my mind. But I do like the composition and the SC-8820's instrument quality...far superior to an ordinary SC-55. It made me think of saving up for an Edirol someday.

Ha ha ... that's great!  I didn't think of that one, but I love it!  This version is so out of character from the original that I think it can pass for a few different visual backups.

I think the SC-55 could render the MIDI pretty well.  Now you have me curious and I think I'll see how they differ.  With the amount of reverb used, it's easy to 'hide' some things; like a sound being off a little.  Don't know about the polyphony, though there's really not that many instruments playing.  Now I have an afternoon project....

Maybe if you said you performed this at your local park, it would have been more realistic. But in a garage? The moment I read that, thats when I knew it was a joke. Cheesy
