GENERAL DISCUSSION / Anything & Everything / Re: Himalaya Studios' Mage's Initiation - Kickstarter
|
on: March 23, 2013, 03:42:44 AM

The Kickstarter just ended a little while ago. Our goal was $65,000 and we surpassed it to a whopping $127,765 (including PayPal pledges at the time of this writing)!!! A million thanks to anybody here who may have pledged and I hope you'll enjoy the game when it's done! Breaking the $120,000 line allowed us to unlock six of our stretch goals which includes more enemies to fight in the game, more areas to explore, a new unique quest for each of the four player classes, additional 2D animated cutscenes, full-screen closeup artwork in certain scenes (a la KQ5 and KQ6) and a higher level of detail overall, and last but not least, native ports to Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android operating systems with the 16:9 widescreen resolution to go with it! If you still haven't checked it out, I believe you can still donate money via PayPal. The demo is also still available to try if you haven't seen it yet. Once again, thanks to everybody for your support and for believing in us! Mage's Initiation Kickstarter Page

Thanks, Ali! So far we've conquered our first two stretch goals, sitting at $90k. Another $5k will give us expanded quests for each class and more explorable areas! Also there is a DEMO now available for the public! Give it a shot! A couple of notes, the puzzles are light as the demo was originally made for the press. It's not indicative of the difficulty level of the final game. As well, the combat has a couple of different control methods. The first is utilizing the mouse to move with left-click and cast spells with right-click. You can also use WASD and/or the arrow keys to move around and swap spellcasting to the left mouse button with 1, 2, and 3 selecting each spell and 7, 8 activating health and mana potions. I quite like the latter scheme myself. But if you have a suggestion please let us know! As well as giving you a taste of what is to come, this is also a valuable chance for us to get a bit of feedback on how everything feels and how we can make it better! Mage's Demo Link

Hey, guys! Just wanted to share with you the news that the game I've been composing music for for the past while, Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements by Himalaya Studios is now a project up live on Kickstarter! Mage's Initiation is a classic-style RPG/Adventure game with hi-res graphics. There are tons of rewards and stretch goals with loads of content and swag. I was surprised at the amount of physical rewards, actually! Take a gander. There's lots of sample content to gawk at as well as some preview tracks from the game. Check it out and spread the word! MUSIC & SOUND CARDS / Roland MT-32 Sound Module / Re: Myst MT-32

It's PCM only. Nice work, RichNagel! The Wave Blaster does sound remarkably close to the original! By the way, here's the original from the game CD soundtrack for reference. It's missing that cool flanged sound effect in the beginning (that I tried to copy with the cymbal sound), but otherwise is complete. Myst Theme (CD)With the sound effect:

Made this tonight out of curiosity as to how it would sound on the MT-32. I love the Myst soundtracks, the first one is particularly special. Hope you enjoy. I was going to copy from a MIDI I found of the main theme on the internet somewhere, but it only had the main theme section (not the intro) and it was slightly incorrect anyway (from what I could tell). So I just made my own from scratch. Plus it's just fun to do it that way anyway! Myst Main Theme MT-32 OGG Myst Main Theme MT-32 MID

GENERAL DISCUSSION / Everything Sierra / Re: Sierra games resurrected

Yeah, the drivers should still be there. But unless you have an MT-32 it's not going to sound right. General MIDI compatible games will sound decent enough through Windows' built in Roland GS emulation. If you pick these collections up you should use Collector's patches/installers at http://sierrahelp.com/ which will correctly fix up all the games in each collection properly the way they were meant to be played. MT-32 only games will be set up for Adlib and General MIDI compatible games will come out of Windows' Roland GS emulator. If you do have an MT-32 you will have to edit the resource.cfg files yourself and also set the MIDI output of DOSBox to whatever device is connected to your MT-32.

GENERAL DISCUSSION / Everything Sierra / KQ3 Redux OST released (not SE)
|
on: May 19, 2012, 04:42:13 AM

I've decided to release the regular game soundtrack seeing as the Special Edition OST is taking longer than I had hoped (but I still plan on finishing). This is the original music pack that was used for the game itself. It's got all the music files in there. I don't have all the masters anymore so these aren't the highest quality, but they are listenable and should do for people who have been waiting a while. The special edition soundtrack is not finished yet and will be a while still. Hopefully this can hold people over until it gets done finally. Please note that this is quickly slapped together and not organized at all. But everything should be there. I also included an instrumental version of Coming Home as a bonus. I know the SE soundtrack has been taking a while and I apologize. Full plate and all. I still intend to finish it, though. KQ3 Redux Soundtrack (game music files) - ZIP 57.4 MB
