1  GENERAL COMPUTER DISCUSSION / Computer Classifieds / Re: FS: Roland SC-88ST Pro on: May 26, 2008, 03:15:56 AM
So this module is still for sale. I was holding it for BlueMax for awhile. He hasn't been able to buy it so far, and though he thinks he may be able to in a bit he's suggested that I readvertise it here.

I'm currently looking at selling this for 175$ USD + shipping, to fund another interest of mine right now.

That's fine - I know what it's like, having gone through (another) move myself in the past few months. I haven't been shopping it around anywhere else, and was waiting for you. I can wait another week or two as needed.

Sorry I haven't replied here in a bit! (It's probably bad form to abandon my own thread.)

Alistair, I know what you're getting at, but this is just a one-off sale on my part and I don't mind waiting a little bit for BlueMaxx. I can understand why some people do try to ask for a lower price (I'm not a business, we're all dealing with this on more of a personal level), but since I know I can always go to eBay if I can't strike a deal here it doesn't bother me.

BlueMax: If worse comes to worse I can easily pack up the 88Pro now and have my parents mail it out later for me. Even if I'd prefer to take care of it now, I can wait a week or whatever.

Sorry to bump this, but are you still interested, Ari?

(I don't mean to sound impatent, it's just that the 88Pro is at my parents' house, where I'm visiting for Christmas. It's easier to mail it out before I leave, though it shouldn't be a problem if I need to mail it out later instead.)

£110's about $220, so that seems to be in the same range.

What happened to your first adapter?

I'm not entirely sure what to ask, I'll admit. It looks like the non-ST 88Pros on eBay right now are in the 250-350 range, mostly 300+, so is 200$ + shipping too much? I believe that's in the region of what I paid.

Tom: Everything's going great, thanks! (It feels sort of weird to be nostalgia.) I hope your holidays are going good so far.

Ari: I'm glad to hear the Dream64's still working great!
8  GENERAL COMPUTER DISCUSSION / Computer Classifieds / FS: Roland SC-88ST Pro - bump, still available! on: December 21, 2007, 06:53:57 PM
I really haven't been using it, so I'm looking to sell my SC-88ST Pro. I thought before tossing it on eBay I'd try offering it here in case anyone's interested.

For those unfamiliar with it, it's the computer music version of the SC-88Pro; it has the same functionality, but doesn't have the front panel controls (except lights showing the activity of the 32 channels and a button to switch between SC-55/88/88Pro maps). It's in good condition, and I can include either the Japanese or North American power adaptor.

It's really been forever since I've been on here, so I should probably apologize for making this my first post back! I lost track of a number of message boards I visit when I moved provinces quite awhile back.

@Fancia:
Hmm, strange. I got it working on an older G4 and on a PowerPC iMac G5 (both of em at the office so I unfortunately couldnt test it with USB-midi-interface and an MT32). Very strange...

From what I can tell, it's hit or miss. Some people have no trouble with VPC, others have never been able to get USB working even once.

But now I am wondering if other external Roland-midi-devices will output midi-music with SCUMM VM on a mac as well as the MT32. I am thinking of a CM32L or CM500.

That should work just fine. ScummVM just sends it to whatever the first external MIDI device is, whether or not it's an MT-32. I've used my SC-88Pro for some GM games, and I have no doubts that these other devices would work, tooo. As others have pointed out, however, there won't be a particularly noticeable difference between other MT-32-like devices and the real MT-32.
10  MUSIC & SOUND CARDS / Miscellaneous MIDI & Sound Cards / Good, free samples? on: April 21, 2006, 01:00:45 AM
BlueMax, maybe you could try zipping them up and sending them using using a site like YouSendIt? It has a reasonably high limit for filesize. His e-mail address is sfthewolf@gmail.com.

Thank you for your help!

My boyfriend makes music using ModPlug Tracker with digital samples and soundfonts. He's been looking for some good resources for free samples, particularly for lead guitar instruments. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Actually, these CDs do have the Compact Disc logo.
13  GENERAL DISCUSSION / Anything & Everything / ISO files and CD duplication questions... on: April 16, 2006, 04:29:47 AM
I have seen some professionally-pressed audio CDs that are over 74 minutes in length. Picking something random out of my collection, the new recording of The Duchess of Chicago has 77:50 on the first CD and 78:54 on the second.

I'll agree with The Doctor - I've liked most of your conversions, and I'd be quite happy to hear more in the future, too.
15  GENERAL DISCUSSION / Sierra Soundtrack Wish List / Fantom XR version of SPACE QUEST IV on: March 20, 2006, 02:32:35 PM
Speaking as someone who hasn't heard the original version before, I like it, at least. ;3 The synth quality is really nice, though that's to be expected from your Fantom conversions. I've probably enjoyed this more than some of the other conversions of yours I've heard because the song isn't as inextricably linked in my mind with the original synth, and I can listen with a properly open mind.

I've never been able to get Virtual PC working with USB devices either, unfortunately.
17  GENERAL DISCUSSION / Sierra Classics Tech Help / QFGV: So you want to be a Dragon Fire hero on OS X? on: March 08, 2006, 02:40:55 AM
From what I understand, that's probably an issue with the Classic environment, which has performance issues for software that tries to do full-screen drawing. Unfortunately, I'm not certain that there's anything you can do to improve performance.
18  GENERAL DISCUSSION / Anything & Everything / Weird Ebay listing from a 100% positive feedback seller on: March 02, 2006, 10:31:22 PM
I would, but I seem to be missing the required hardware. Judging from the description, I think it's incompatible with the female gender.

Oddly enough, there don't seem to be any takers so far.

I see it, using Safari (Apple's browser). Camino and Shiira are able to show it properly, too.
