(I hope I'm not getting too annoying)
Anyway, I noticed a few more themes that are missing from the soundtrack of the game. I'm talking about the Krondor theme and the Cavall Keep theme. I'm quite sure these are the last ones missing.
Since I don't have the needed tools and/or experience to record the music myself, I'm hoping someone would be interested in finishing the midi file collection for the game.

I have the 'Cavall Keep' theme recorded, although it's just a variation on another theme, that's already posted, if I'm not mistaken.

As for the main menu theme, you're right. it's something I always forget about.

While the main menu theme is something I would like to get, I was actually referring to the Krondor city theme. As for the Cavall Keep city theme, I cannot be sure about variations, since last time I played the game was about two years ago, however I would like to be able to get that too.
Thanks for the attention, by the way.

I'm pretty sure I remember the CD version using audio tracks on the disc for the in-game music.  If you can find a copy on eBay or a used game store, you should be able to get the tracks you are looking for, if not all the music from the game.

I don't know why I thought you asked about the Main Menu theme instead of the Krondor theme. I must be getting senile.

Anyway, the Krondor theme used to be there, but I guess it got lost in the page update. it should be theme no. 6 if you want to enter the URL manualy. Or you can wait till I fix it.

Add me to the senility list.  Sorry.  I'm trying to be soooo careful with these page updates.

I'm afraid that's not really an option for me, since I live in Bulgaria, which makes it really difficult to shop on eBay or any other such site. As for shops, the situation isn't exactly better - they mostly dispose of old games since nobody bothers to buy them. In fact, I managed to buy some 'software antiques' as I like to call them for about $10 each.

Anyway, thanks for the information on the Krondor theme. I managed to get it, and have to say it sounds quite good.
I would like to see the Cavall Keep theme being uploaded too.

Anyway, as a last comment, I have to say the site and community, etc. here is really good! One of the best ideas I've seen in a while and done really good too. I hope you keep up the good work.

Thanks!
As I said, I will upload the CD version tracks eventually, though I'm almost certain they're available for d/l on the web somewhere. I just don't remember where...

Ari, no need to upload it, this page has most of the BaK tracks (all the tracks that are actually music and not some try of Owyn to play on his lute) http://www.dimwood.net/music/mp3/Krondor_MP3s/

Those mp3s have a strange clip/pop sound at the beginning of some tracks, I wonder if the original cd has them?

Anyway, any chance to get the _whole_ soundtrack (I'd like to play the game with the cd audio for once    ), for I have the same problem as swave. I live in Finland, that's in Northern Europe, and I've never seen a cd version of BAK here.

Anyway, great, great site and good job with the tunes! Ahh memories flooding my head...  Cheesy

The strange clipping sound is there originally. I ripped all the music directly from the CD, and I get the same clipping.

To tell the truth, I'm not crazy about the audio CD version. The themes are too short IMO.

That's why I want to record the music from the GM soundtrack. I promise to finish that project some day in the near future. Really! Smiley

I just plopped in my BaK CD to see if I could hear these 'pops and clicks'.  I couldn't.  Sounds good!  I didn't listen to all 32 tracks, but sampled at least 10 or 12 of them and noticed no pops or clicks.  But as I recall, Sierra did send me THREE CD's because at the time, I was having problems with the music on them -- it might have been this pop/click thing.  I know that one of the CD's doesn't work at all.

The tracks I listened to on the CD sound like typical Sound Canvas recordings.  Ari will probably do a better job recording the longer, in-game GM versions of these songs.

I think the crackling appears only after you rip the music to mp3 format. You hear them only at the end of the tracks, so this is certainly something one can get rid of easily.

The audio CD tracks were most certainly not recorded from the SC. The instruments sound much more real.

Hmmm...wonder if I have a different CD?  The tracks I listened to, some with choir sounds, were definitely Sound Canvas choir sounds; and the strings sounded like SC as well.  The first trac is in mono; the rest were in stereo...the one's I listened to, anyway.

I always "record" CD tracks to WAV before converting to Ogg...maybe that would prevent the clicks and pops?

This is extremely odd. I uploaded a couple of themes so you can compare them to what you have.

I'm still convinced these are Sound Canvas GS tracks.  The French horn, guitar, flute, and vocals are classic SC sounds.  There's some other sounds used in some tracks that are VERY rich in reverb (probably Hall1 at 127) and benders...and sound good...but still, sound like Sound Canvas instruments (with a lot of reverb and benders applied.)  Maybe it's a SC variant of some kind, plus some extensive use of the SC's "MT-32" tones.  It was performed very well, to be sure, but still sounds like a SC to me.

BAK-04.mp3
BAK-12.mp3

I can't find anything on my CD-ROM packages that even mentions these song files on the CD.

(P.S.  Look's like we have a BaK digital soundtrack started.)  Smiley

OK, I agree that the instruments may be SC instruments, though I'm not enough of an expert to say for sure.

But, that's beside the point, since I meant that they don't sound at all like Sound Canvas recordings from the original GM soundtrack.

I guess I misunderstood you.

At any rate, the project I'm working on is recording somewhat enhanced versions of the GM soundtrack. Mainly changing the drumkit from STANDARD to ORCHESTRA.
